Obama amnesty granted 500,000 Social Security numbers to illegal immigrants

The administration has granted about 541,000 Social Security numbers to illegal immigrants under President Obama’s original 2012 deportation amnesty for Dreamers, officials told Congress in a letter made public Wednesday.

That means almost all of the illegal immigrants approved for the amnesty are being granted work permits and Social Security numbers, opening the door to government benefits ranging from tax credits to driver’s licenses.

Federal Judge Keeps Injunction on 2014 Executive Amnesty in Place

U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen denied a Justice Department request late Tuesday night to lift his injunction on President Obama's plan to grant executive amnesty and work permits to five million illegal aliens. The judge issued his injunction on February 16, just days before the Department of Homeland Security was to start processing amnesty applications, while the case brought by 26 states was being decided.

A bill that would ban illegal-alien sanctuary cities, local entities that do not enforce immigration laws, passed through a Texas Senate subcommittee on Monday. SB 185, introduced by state Sen. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), would cut off state funding for local governments or governmental entities that adopt policies that forbid police officers from asking about the immigration status of a person detained or arrested.

A bill banning so-called “sanctuary cities” in Texas – the common term for local entities that do not enforce immigration laws — advanced out of a Senate subcommittee on Monday.

Senate Bill 185 by state Sen. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, would cut off state funding for local governments or governmental entities that adopt policies that forbid peace officers from inquiring into the immigration status of a person detained or arrested.

Illegal Aliens Overwhelm California DMV to Apply for Driver's Licences

The number of illegal aliens applying for driver's licenses in California has doubled the projected estimate and overwhelmed DMV workers. According to DMV Director Jean Shiomoto, the number of illegal aliens applying for the new program is twice what they expected.

DREAMers and their supporters were on the Texas Capitol steps early this morning in preparation for lobbying legislators on S.B. 1819. They are in Austin to speak to the Texas Senate’s Sub-Committee on Border Security. The sub-committee is part of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations. The bill would remove in-state tuition eligibility for certain children who came to America illegally.
