Attorney General William Barr issued a decision limiting aliens' options to fight deportation late Friday, furthering the Trump administration's immigration agenda. The little-noticed decision, made through the attorney general's unique "certification" power, removes a long-standing path to disqualify aliens with multiple drinking and driving convictions from the cancelation of deportation orders.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis urged lawmakers Tuesday to create legislation that would require employers to use a federally operated database to verify the immigration status of workers. About two dozen states now tap into the E-Verify data. But some of them, including Florida, only require verification for government jobs.ffffff

Acting DHS Undersecretary Chad Wolf

Published:

Mon, Oct 28th 2019 @ 12:33 pm EDT

As reported by Politico, Chad Wolf, who sits at the top of Trump's shortlist for Acting Sec. of DHS, worked as a lobbyist pressuring members of Congress to expand the already inflated H-1B visa program. The report states that Wolf, as a registered lobbyist, represented Indian and U.S. companies that place H-1B workers, often displacing U.S. workers in the process.

This morning the House of Representatives passed HR. 565 - The AMIGOS Act. Rather than fixing the well-documented problems with the E-1 and E-2 visa programs, an unlimited amount of visas given to countries who enter 'free trade agreements' with the United States, HR 565 simply adds another country to these uncapped, unlimited programs with no consideration for the American workers they may impact.

Tim Robbins, ICE's top deportation official, told Congress on Tuesday that as many as 100 criminal illegal immigrants are being released into the Los Angeles, Calif., area every day. While some argue that sanctuary policies are "protecting" the immigrant community, Homan said that criminal illegal immigrants are a threat to those communities.

The case centers on “expedited removal,” a streamlined deportation process set up by Congress in 1996. Right now, those eligible include thousands of people who every year are arrested within 100 miles of the border less than two weeks after crossing and then are deemed by immigration officials not to have a credible fear of being persecuted if they are deported.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
