The Department of Homeland Security today announced that it will stop deporting and begin giving work permits to illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.  House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) called Obama's announcement a breach of faith with the American people.

House Introduces Companion Bill of Senate's Startup Act 2.0

The House-version of the Senate's Startup Act 2.0 was introduced by a group of Members from both sides of the aisle today. The bipartisan group of House members behind the bill includes Republicans Michael Grimm (N.Y.), Kevin Yoder (Kan.), Devin Nunes (Calif.) and Robert Dold (Ill.) and Democrats Loretta Sanchez (Calif.), Russ Carnahan (Mo.) and Jared Polis (Colo.).

Illegal Alien Employed at New Jersey Airport for 20 Years

Newark airport security supervisor, Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole, a Nigerian national used the name of a murder victim to hide his illegal alien status for twenty years. Authorities say Oyewole worked undetected for years as a security guard and later a security supervisor. Had the Legal Workforce Act, H.R. 2885, been enacted, the no-match provisions would have detected Oyewole.

Politifact Says 'Mostly False' to Claim of $400 Million in Georgia Farm Loses Due to Immigration Law

The Atlanta Journal Constitution's fact check division has determined that a claim made by Georgia labor leader George Fleming about the state's immigration enforcement law is mostly false. At a May 1 rally at the Georgia state capitol,  Fleming claimed that HB 87 costs farmers $400 million during last spring's harvest even though the law didn't go in effect till July 1.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who also serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a letter Monday to the State and Homeland Security departments, raising questions about Boeing's use of B-1 visas to bring Russian contract engineers into the country.

Illegal Aliens Take Advantage of Tax Loophole that Costs Taxpayers Billions

Eyewitness News of Indiana's WTHR reveals a massive tax loophole that provides billions of dollars in tax credits to illegal aliens and people living in foreign countries. The loophole is called the Additional Child Tax Credit. It's a fully-refundable credit of up to $1000 per child, and it's meant to help working families who have children living at home. Eyewitness News has found many undocumented workers are claiming the tax credit for kids who live in Mexico.

Owners of Famous Bay Area Taco Shop Chain Busted for Hiring Illegal Aliens

The owners of El Balazo, a well-known California taqueria or taco shop chain, are getting sentenced this week for hiring illegal aliens and hiding their wages from the IRS, Mercury News reported. El Balazo owner Marino Sandoval, 59, was sentenced to 41 months in prison and his wife, Nicole Sandoval, 51, was sentenced to five years or probation and one year of community confinement, according to federal prosecutors.  The couple was also ordered to pay $2,216,010 in restitution to the IRS.

Lower Tuition for Illegal Aliens Bill Fails in Colorado House

A bill to lower tuition costs in Colorado for illegal aliens died in the House Finance Committee last night. Over the past month, NumbersUSA Colorado activists have been phoning, faxing and emailing state legislatures urging them to not support the bill. The bill would have created a new category of tuition for illegal aliens higher than in-state tuition but lower than out-of-state tuition. It applied to students who attended a Colorado high school for at least three years and graduated.

150 Million Adults Worldwide Would Want to Relocate to the U.S.

Over 150 million of the world's adults say they would like to move to the U.S., according to Gallup, making the U.S. the most desired destination for potential migrants. About 13% of the world's adults or more than 640 million people say they would like to leave their country permanently.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
