At the 1963 March on Washington that included Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I have a dream" speech, the lead organizer and head of the event was A. Philip Randolph. The president of the Sleeping Car Porters union had a long history of advocating for immigration restrictions as part of his five decades of advancing Black economic interests.

Few politicians seem to realize that U.S. history -- especially from the 1940s and 1950s -- provides exhilarating evidence of how reducing immigration may be one of the most effective tools for advancing racial equality.

Today, I want to introduce you to nine Members of this two-year Congress who have achieved the top distinction in battling immigration policies that drive down wages and increase the non-employment of American workers. There are dozens of others who have done a great job this year. But these nine are the Rock Starts who earned NumbersUSA's A+ "Challenge Status Quo" grade.

Happy Labor Day to all who labor to provide for the nation, who wish they could labor, and whose labor is done.

On one of the more difficult Independence Days of my life (how about yours?), I want to think more deeply about what we are celebrating. Or at least, what we should be celebrating.

Perhaps we could be less disunited during our 4th of July celebrations if we could think of the holiday as commemorating the aspirational start of a process that continued through many other wonderful dates in our history. I'll name five others.

If it has seemed for 30 years that powerful forces have intentionally prevented the rule of law in an orderly immigration system, LOSING CONTROL is a new book that tells you how it was done.

I know a lot of this story. I've worked on the issue full-time since 1991, and was a reporter covering it before that. But I learned a lot of new details from this book, enough that they kept me from skimming and kept me reading every word for each new revelation.

Bob Good -- who filled out NumbersUSA's candidate survey and promised to be a True Reformer on 12 top immigration goals -- has unseated incumbent Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman at the Party's primary convention.

A key issue in Rep. Riggleman's defeat was the charge that he was a close ally of business lobbies in their desire for more foreign workers.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
