In an outrageous new development, the Obama Administration has started a program to bring the Central American relatives of the illegal aliens it has amnestied (or plans to amnesty) to the United States! Instead of forcing the minors, and near minors, to face the dangerous and expensive trip from Central America on their own (like the 60,000 who came in the 2014 border surge), the federal government will fly them directly to the U.S. courtesy of the American taxpayer.

This is the time of year when many pro-amnesty advocates in the pulpit and the press misuse the Bible to try to try to advance their cause. This year, churchgoers are fortunate to have access to a much different explanation of scripture, thanks to the emergence of a group called Evangelicals for Biblical Immigration and to a fascinating panel recently sponsored by the Heritage Foundation to inform congressional staffers and the media.

What a political season we're living in! Overseas, the entire Middle East is exploding into revolution. We can only hope it leads to an improvement. And now right here in the U.S., state capitals are erupting in rancorous divisions over how to deal with huge budget shortfalls. At first blush, it looks like the issue of immigration doesn't figure that high with all the budget upheavals and foreign government changes, but keep reading . . .

The visa lottery was established by the Immigration Act of 1990 in an attempt to bring individuals to the U.S. from countries that had been sending few immigrants to the United States in the past. Currently, approximately 50,000 foreign nationals per year are awarded visas based on pure luck to come and live permanently in the United States under the visa lottery program.

With the defeat of so many pro-Amnesty Members of Congress on election night, I thought we'd heard the last of amnesties for awhile. Didn't you?

Unfortunately, we have one more pretty steep mountain to climb as soon as Congress comes back from Thanksgiving.

I've been with NumbersUSA for all of our 14 years. One of my jobs is to send regular emails summarizing the latest on our political struggle, while also asking members to donate.

(Thanks for reading my letters and helping with the funding. This entire website, including our faxing capability and Congressional gradecards, is supported by small donations from you members.)

I write these letters to members, and thousands of you write me back. One thing I've noticed: Giving automatic U.S. citizenship to children of illegal immigrants and tourists, the so-called "birthright citizenship," seems to mortify members more than any other issue. It just seems unjust.

Yesterday, the respected Pew Research Center released a new poll showing Americans are backing Arizona's recently passed immigration enforcement bill, SB 1070, by huge margins. According to the poll, seventy-three percent of Americans agree with "requiring people to produce documents verifying their legal status if police ask for them.”

All of us at NumbersUSA can easily become focused on what's wrong with America. We believe immigration numbers are way too high and that illegal immigration is ruinous to the country.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
