Houston Woman Pleads Guilty in Massive Marriage Fraud Case

A Houston, Texas woman pleaded guilty to arranging at least 40 sham marriages so that foreign nationals could obtain U.S. green cards. Almost 100 others were charged in the scheme.

Andrew R. Arthur, Resident Fellow in Law and Policy at the Center for Immigration Studies, has looked at Joe Biden's immigration agenda and estimates that Biden's promise of amnesty and non-enforcement of immigration law could result in "millions — if not tens of millions — of aliens [who] will remain in and/or enter the United States illegally and stay forever."

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement this week announced the results of an operation targeting criminal aliens. More than 2,000 at-large foreign nationals were arrested, many for serious crimes.

CIS Finds No Labor Shortage in U.S.

The Center for Immigration Studies analyzed July 2020 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It found an improved employment situation for both U.S.-born and immigrant workers. It did not find any need to admit more foreign workers into the U.S. as unemployment rates remain well above pre-COVID-19 levels.

Court Observers Expect Justices to Allow Pres. Trump to End DACA

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case challenging President Trump's decision to end DACA. Most who sat in on the session anticipate that the Justices will side with the Administration. It remains to be seen whether or not the Court will rule on the constitutionality of President Obama's executive amnesty.

President Trump Announces New Tariffs on Mexico to Stem Illegal Immigration

President Trump announced on Thursday that the United States will impose a new tariff of 5% on all goods imported from Mexico. If illegal immigration through the southern U.S. border does not subside, the tariff will increase by 5% until it is capped at 25%.

President Trump Nominates Mark Morgan ICE Director

President Trump has nominated Mark Morgan for the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Morgan's nomination fills the place of Ronald Vitiello, whose nomination as ICE Director was withdrawn last month. Morgan will face a confirmation hearing in the Senate.

CBP: New Technologies Result in More Apprehensions of Visa Overstayers

Customs and Border Protections officials this week announced that new biometric entry/exit technologies have allowed it to verify 57% more visa overstayers than the previous year. This is a significant step forward in the implementation of an entry/exit system first mandated by Congress in 1996.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
