Acknowledging trade offs is the beginning of wisdom, but for many expansionists, denial ain't just a river in Egypt. It's how they avoid engaging with the economic realities of current immigration policies.

Many of Biden's promises suggest he's ready to take us back to 2014. If the debate over legalization spurred the initial surge before the legal loopholes were well-known, what will happen now that the cat is out of the bag as far as how to game the system? I'm afraid we're going to find out.

Wouldn't it be something, though, if Biden shocked the world and charted a brand new course?

Joseph Chamie, the former director of the United Nations Population Division says the migrant surge is coming, whether you like it or not. Will Biden address it like it's 2014, or will he succeed where his predecessors have failed?

Short of industry titans suddenly deciding to put the interests of wage-earning Americans above the investment class, American workers have the right to appeal their government for an immigration policy that better serves their interests. But might there be something in there for industry as well? Micah Meadowcroft thinks so. A well-paid America, he argues, will be a more innovative America.

It's not the current fashion to acknowledge that the post-1965 wave of immigration has had lasting and deleterious effects on Black Americans, but John Wood, Jr. of Braver Angels goes there on The Darkhorse Podcast from July 13, 2020.

There has been widespread chatter among pundits on both the left and the right that the 2020 Democratic candidates have been moving too far left on immigration, taking positions more extreme than Hilary Clinton who was trounced by Trump among immigration voters. But will Republicans make a clear enough distinction to take advantage of the opportunity?

"A big mistake." "Folly." "Insane." "Death knell." "Political malpractice." Is anyone playing to win on immigration?

The moderators of last night's Democratic primary debate missed numerous opportunities to press the candidates on what they would do to address the incentives and loopholes at the heart of the border crisis. In that sense, the debate last night reflected the ongoing failure of the political elite to stop the surge of children and families that began more than five years ago.

In her interview with Jose Antonio Vargas this week, NPR's Rachel Martin mischaracterized separate proposals from David Frum and President Trump to reduce immigration. "Chain migration" and "family reunification" are not interchangeable terms.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
