ICE Targets Nationwide Food Chain for Illegal Alien Workers

An internal ICE document revealed that the agency is possibly planning a worksite enforcement operation at a national food chain in the upcoming weeks. The operation will target locations across the country that hire and exploit illegal alien workers.

The National ICE Council launched a new website on Tuesday that highlights some of the issues ICE agents are facing when trying to enforce federal immigration laws. The National ICE Council hopes the website will bring these problems to the public's attention.

Acting DHS Secretary Ends TPS Status for Nicaraguans but Extends for Hondurans; Calls for Amnesty

The deadline to renew the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the countries of Nicaragua and Honduras was on Monday. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke decided to end TPS for Nicaraguans but refused to make a judgement on Honduras, which means they automatically receive a six-month extension.

House Judiciary Committee Passes Mandatory E-Verify Bill

Yesterday the House Judiciary Committee passed Rep. Lamar Smith’s (R-Texas) Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 3711) which would require all businesses to use E-Verify within two years. This bill would fulfill NumberUSA’s top enforcement priority.

CBP Commissioner: Illegal Immigration Hits 45-Year Low

Kevin K. McAleenan, The acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said on Tuesday that when the final 2017 numbers are completed they will show that illegal immigration is at a 45-year low. McAleenan credits Pres. Trump’s clear message that U.S. immigration law will be enforced for this historic decline.

AG Sessions Talks Immigration During Senate Hearing

Attorney General Jeff Sessions testified yesterday before the Senate Judiciary Committee on several topics including immigration. Sessions defended the DOJ’s ability to limit federal grants to sanctuary cities and said that DACA recipients should not be given amnesty in exchange for just border security.

ICE to Increase Worksite Immigration Enforcement

Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan said during a speech at the Heritage Foundation that the agency will increase worksite immigration enforcement in the coming months. He said this is an effort to reduce illegal immigration by eliminating the jobs magnet.

CIS: Total Immigrant Population Hits Record High of 43.7 Million in 2016

A new Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) report analyzed the latest American Community Survey (ACS) data, conducted by the Census Bureau, and found that the immigrant population (legal and illegal) hit a record high of 43.7 million in July 2016. This is an increase of half a million since 2015, an increase of 3.8 million since 2010, and 12.6 million since 2000.

DOJ: Last Chance for Sanctuary Cities to Comply with Federal Immigration Laws

Today the Dept. of Justice sent a final letter to eight identified sanctuary jurisdictions who were identified in May 2016 by the DOJ’s Inspector General. Four of the jurisdictions have been cleared while the other four continue to potentially violate federal immigration laws.

AG Sessions: Asylum System is Rampant with 'Abuse and Fraud'

During his speech today at the department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Attorney General Jeff Sessions criticized the asylum process saying that it is rampant with “abuse and fraud”. Sessions said that many immigrants are taking advantage of the loopholes in the system to enter and then stay in the U.S. illegally.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
