U.S. Border Patrol Caught 23 Suspected Terrorists at Border in 2021

Between Jan. 20 and Dec. 27, 2021, Biden’s first full year in office, U.S. Border Patrol apprehended at least 23 foreign nationals whose names are on terror watch lists like the Terrorist Screening Database. Fox News obtained this information in response to a Freedom of Information Act request submitted in December.

Of the 23 terrorists attempting to cross the porous southern border, 4 were caught in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, 4 in Del Rio Sector (eihgt in Texas), 3 in El Paso Sector (three in New Mexico), 2 in Tucson Sector, 2 in Yuma Sector (four in Arizona), 4 in El Centro Sector, and 4 in San Diego Sector (eight in California).

Of course, these 23 names came from aliens intercepted by Border Patrol; however, over 62,000 known aliens evaded Border Patrol agents in March alone. This means that an average of 2,000 aliens per day avoided any amount of vetting by Border Patrol before entering the United States.

“The Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) contains crucial information about the identities of those who are known or ‘reasonably suspected’ of being involved in terrorist activities,” reports Fox News.

Some U.S. Representatives have called on the current administration to publicly report the number of suspected terrorists apprehended attempting to cross the southern border.

Last month, Reps. James Comer and John Katko, ranking members on the Oversight and Homeland Security Committees respectively, wrote to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:

Reporting indicates that multiple individuals with terrorist ties have been recently apprehended after illegally crossing the border and that such encounters may be increasing. The American people deserve to know whether President Biden’s weak border policies are allowing terrorists to enter our homeland.

Former Border Patrol Cheif Rodney Scott has also sounded warnings about the number of TSDB names crossing the border. In a meeting with fellow BP officers last year, he stated the total was “at a level we have never seen before.” In October, Scott also told Fox News, “We have terrorist threats we can’t get into in this type of a forum, but they are real.”

Republicans on the Oversight and Homeland Security Committees have asked the Department of Homeland Security to provide data showing the number of TSDB-linked migrants in each Fiscal Year from 2016-now, information about their countries of origin, and estimates on the number who have crossed the border but evaded Border Patrol.
