Indiana Senator Dan Coats urged caution this weekend as the Senate prepares to take on the Gang of Eight’s amnesty bill. Sen. Coats appeared on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and said the country learned some things after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and that there may be similar revelations after the Boston bombings.”We saw some things post 9/11 that were enacted that if we had a little more rational time to think this through, perhaps we wouldn’t have had some of the pushback on it,” Sen. Coats said. Sen. Coats also said that he believes emotions shouldn’t drive policy decisions.”Immigration has a dramatic economic effect on Americans; it has national security implications,” Sen. Coats said. “I’m afraid we’ll rush to some judgements relative to immigration and how it’s processed so let’s do it in a rational way.”For more information, see Politco.com.
