President Obama to Announce Executive Amnesty in Address Thursday

According to the Washington Post, President Obama will announce on Thursday his plans to grant executive amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. The plan would reportedly expand his 2012 directive, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) that granted amnesty and work permits to illegal aliens meeting certain criteria, and extend similar benefits to illegal-alien parents of children who are U.S. citizens or green card holders.

On Friday, he will fly to Las Vegas to rally support for the initiative. In January of 2013, Pres. Obama delivered a speech in Las Vegas calling on Congress to pass “comprehensive immigration reform”.

Last year, the Senate passed the Gang of Eight’s amnesty bill, S.744, that would grant amnesty to 11-18 million illegal aliens and double annual legal immigration numbers. Facing mass opposition from grassroots activists,
the House refused to bring the bill to the floor for a vote, prompting Pres. Obama to threaten executive action.

Earlier this year, Pres. Obama announced that he would expand his DACA directive by the end of the summer if the House didn’t act. But at the urging of Senate Democrats in close midterm races, he announced that he would delay any executive action until after the elections.

A poll conducted by The Polling Company/WomanTrend found that 74% of midterm voters oppose the President moving forward with an executive action and, instead, would like him to work with Congress. Several Members of the President’s own party and some in the media have urged Pres. Obama not to take executive action.
