Plurality of Likely Voters Oppose Amnesty

author Published by Chris Pierce

According to a recent poll by Rasmussen Reports, a plurality of likely U.S. voters oppose giving amnesty to an estimated 12 million illegals currently living in the United States.

Rasmussen found that 46% of the poll respondents thing granting amnesty to illegal aliens would make illegal immigration worse.

In contrast, the poll found that just 23% of likely voters think granting amnesty would make the illegal immigration crisis better. There were 20% of respondents thought amnesty would not make any difference, and 10% were not sure.

As expected, an overwhelming majority, 71%, of Republicans thought that a massive amnesty would make illegal immigration worse, and 24% of Democrats believed the same thing. An additional 36% of respondents did not affiliate with a political party but thought that amnesty would only make issues at the border worse.

Breitbart News adds,

However, by party, 36 percent of Democrats, 11 percent of Republicans, and 21 percent of unaffiliated party respondents thought giving amnesty to an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants would make the problem better.

Additionally, 47 percent also gave President Joe Biden a poor rating for how he has handled immigration, and 49 percent of all respondents said the illegal immigration problem is getting worse.

The Rasmussen Reports poll was conducted between December 8 to 11, with 1,000 U.S. likely voters. There was also a three percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level.
