New Poll Shows Most Americans Favor Arizona-Type Enforcement Bill

author Published by Joe Jenkins

A new Rasmussen poll shows that 60% of Americans favor letting local police stop and check the immigration status of suspect illegal aliens.

This poll comes in the wake of Arizona’s passage of legislation that allows state and local law enforcement agencies to verify the immigration status of suspected illegal aliens.  The legislation also allows the state to fine illegal aliens, prevents police agencies from preventing officers from enforcing this legislation, and allows citizens to sue state agencies that do not follow the legislation.

The poll also shows that 56% of Americans believe that federal government policies encourage illegal immigration and 83% of Americans are angry at the federal government, not illegal aliens, over illegal immigration.
