Nebraska Lawmakers Seeking Tougher Immigration Laws

author Published by Eddie Huey

A majority of Nebraska lawmakers say they favor tougher immigration laws according to a pre-session survey conducted by the Associated Press.

The majority of state lawmakers said they support legislation that would require businesses to use the Department of Homeland Security’s internet-based workplace verification tool – E-Verify. Only one said they would not support such a measure and 14 said they were unsure.

Twenty-six state senators would also support measures that prohibit illegal aliens from receiving tax-supported benefits as well as in-state tuition for children that are brought into the country illegally.
