Rep. Deal Cosponsors Visa Lottery Bill, Earning 5-for-5 Award

author Published by Chris Chmielenski

Rep. Nathan Deal (R-Ga.) added his name to the list of cosponsors for the SAFE Act, which would eliminate the visa lottery. Rep. Deal is the sponsor for the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009, which is one of our 5 Great Immigration-Reduction Bills, and with his sponsorship of the visa lottery bill, he is now a sponsor of all five immigration-reduction bills.

NumbersUSA’s 5 Great Immigration-Reduction Bills include:

Birthright Citizenship — This bill offered by Rep. Deal would eliminate birthright citizenship for the children born to illegal aliens in the United States by limiting citizenship to the children born to U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent resident aliens in the United States, and aliens performing active service in the armed forces.
Visa Lottery — This bill offered by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) would eliminate the visa lottery program, which rewards 50,000 annual green cards based on “random selection” instead of humanitarian need, family connection, or other economic or cultural value to the United States.
CLEAR Act — This bill offered by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) would clarify authority and increase resources for state and local law enforcement, on a voluntary basis, to assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
Family-based Migration — This bill offered by Rep. Phil Gingrey (R_Ga.) would eliminate the extended family visa categories (e.g., married sons and daughters of citizens, etc.), thus ending “chain migration” as recommended by the bi-partisan Barbara Jordan Commission in 1997.
SAVE Act — This bill offered by Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) would increase border security and interior enforcement and make E-Verify mandatory nationwide, including provisions that would help combat identity theft.
