Jobless Numbers Improve, But Obama Still Not Listening

author Published by Chris Chmielenski

For the first time in two years, the unemployment rate dropped, moving from 10.2% in October to 10% in November. Despite the drop, however, the United States still lost more jobs than it created, and as President Obama looks for a low cost solution to the jobs depression, he refuses to consider an immigration suspension.

During a jobs summit on Thursday, Pres. Obama invited 130 business leaders to the White House to discuss ways to get Americans back to work. The President said yesterday that he’s not willing to take a “wait and see approach” but he also knows he’s closing out a year in which the federal government posted a record deficit fueled by the $787 billion economic stimulus package.

As NumbersUSA has been saying since this time last year, the best and cheapest way to open up jobs for 15 million unemployed Americans is to suspend non-essential immigration. The federal government continues to hand out 125,000 work permits to foreign workers every month, and the Pew Hispanic Center estimates 8 million illegal workers in the U.S. job market.
