H.R. 3938, the Enforcement First Immigration Reform Act, would: 1) reduce rewards for illegal immigration by prohibiting Social Security for illegal aliens, 2) reduce chain migration by eliminating the Family 4th Preference category which allots 65,000 visas each year to the siblings of adult U.S.
H.R. 3262, the Employee Verification Accountability Act, would eliminate the series of fines ranging from $250 to $10,000 that current law provides for employers who hire illegal aliens and replace them with a single fine of $10,000 per violation.
H.R. 3137, the CLEAR Act, would bring our 700,000 state and local law officers on the beat with respect to immigration crimes and allow local law enforcement officials to detain and process illegal aliens, thus increasing interior enforcement. Of the many provisions of the CLEAR Act, some of the most important provide for: training on local officers in immigration law enforcement, increased in formation sharing regarding violations of immigration law among various law enforcement agencies, and additional resources to local law enforcement and Homeland Security.
S. 1362, the Homeland Security Enhancement Act, would clarify state and local law enforcement's ability to enforce immigration laws. The legislation would reduce the flow of new illegal aliens into the United States and also begin to slowly and steadily reducing the current illegal population.
H.R. 3095, the New IDEA (Illegal Deduction Elimination Act), would dissuade employers from hiring illegal aliens by making wages and benefits paid to illegal aliens nondeductible for federal tax purposes.
H.R. 2933, the Alien Gang Removal Act, would prohibit members of violent criminal gangs from receiving Temporary Protected Status and make aliens who are members of violent criminal gangs inadmissible and deportable.
H.R. 2330, the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, would increase permanent, legal immigration by adding an extra 254,000 family-based visas annually, reward virtually all illegal aliens (except those with criminal records or terrorist connections) with amnesty, potentially rewarding 9 million illegal aliens with amnesty, and add an extra 150,000 employment-based visas (mostly for unskilled workers) each year. Additionally, it would create a brand new "guest" worker program that would bring in 400,000 unskilled workers the first year. Depending on how fast U.S.
H.R. 2049, the Federal Contractor Security Act, would require Federal service contractors to participate in the Basic Pilot program for employment eligibility confirmation.
H.R. 1770 would require employers at critical infrastructure sites, including federal, state and local government buildings; military bases; nuclear energy sites; weapons sites; and airports, to participate in the Basic Pilot program to verify the identity and employment eligibility of employees.
