Immigration Bills

The bill would reiterate current law in prohibiting F, J, or M student visas from being issued to an alien unless the educational institution the alien is, or will be, attending is on DHS’ list of “recognized accrediting agencies and institutions”; and would further reiterate current statute by prohibiting an educational institution from being eligible for Federal student assistance funding if it does not take appropriate steps to be included in the DHS list.

The bill would express a sense of the House of Representatives that additional emergency supplemental appropriations for enforcement of border security, immigration and customs laws should be provided by Congress.

Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the Congress should make additional emergency supplemental appropriations for necessary expenses for enforcement of laws relating to border security, immigration, and customs.

The bill would prohibit DHS from paroling into the United States an alien solely because he/she: (1) fell ill while seeking admission, or waiting to seek admission; or (2) approaches a DHS agent or official at or near the border in order to seek emergency medical assistance.

To prohibit the Secretary of Homeland Security from paroling into the United States an alien who falls ill while seeking admission at a port of entry or seeks emergency medical assistance by approaching an agent or official of the Department of Homeland Security at or near a border.

The bill would create a policy directorate within DHS that engages in strategic planning, strengthen lines of authority for directorate operating officers, enhance financial accountability, create a homeland security university, and encourage the hiring of Border Patrol agents.

To amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to provide for improvements in the management and operations of the Department of Homeland Security, and for other purposes.

The bill would allow an illegal alien who is married to a U.S. citizen and who is the parent of a U.S. citizen child to apply for a special adjustment of status.

To amend section 245(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to extend the special adjustment of status to certain aliens currently in the United States who are married to United States citizens and parents of a United States citizen child.
