H.R. 519 would eliminate the Secretary of Homeland Security's discretionary authority to order expedited removal, unless the Secretary determined after consultation with Federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies that the alien in question would be detained by such an agency, in which case the Secretary would be prohibited from removing the alien until that detention terminates.

To prohibit the Secretary of Homeland Security from paroling into the United States an alien who falls ill while seeking admission at a port of entry or seeks emergency medical assistance by approaching an agent.

The bill would prohibit DHS from paroling into the United States an alien solely because he/she: (1) fell ill while seeking admission, or waiting to seek admission; or (2) approaches a DHS agent or official at or near the border in order to seek emergency medical assistance.

S. 2117, the ENFORCE Act, would: 1) end the automatic granting of citizenship to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens (an estimated 250,000 per year); 2) increase border controls by enlisting retired law officers in border control efforts; 3) increase interior enforcement by mandating federal officials respond to state and local officials who detain illegal aliens; and 4) prevent theft and abuse of social security numbers and individual taxpayer ID numbers, both of which are used by illegal aliens to obtain jobs fraudulently.

Border Security and Interior Enforcement Improvement Act of 2005

S. 2061, the Border Security and Interior Enforcement Improvement Act, would reduce rewards for illegal aliens by increasing penalties for document fraud, false claims of citizenship, and misuse of Social Security numbers and cards. It would increase border security by requiring construction of a border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, providing for additional Border Patrol agents, and mandating use of the entry-exit system at all ports of entry.

S. 2049: 

Border Security and Modernization Act of 2005

S. 2049, the Border Security and Modernization Act, would increase border controls by authorizing over a five-year period an additional 8,750 Customs and Border Patrol Agents, immigration investigators, Department of Justice attorneys and U.S. Marshals to investigate criminal immigration matters, authorize the National Guard to assist in border patrol efforts, and authorize creation of new infrastructure such as roads, walls, and barriers to prevent illegal entry.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
