H.R. 489:

Expedited Removal Codification Act of 2023

Published:  Tue, Mar 7th 2023 @ 4:08 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

The "Expedited Removal Codification Act of 2023" would codify into law an Executive Order signed by President Trump allowing DHS to exercise full authority in placing inadmissible aliens under expedited removal. H.R. 489 would expand the scope of Trump's EO by making any illegal alien who entered within the past two years subject to expedited removal and would allow for such application outside of the current 100-mile enforcement boundary.

H.R. 402:

Protect Communities from a Porous Border Act of 2023

Published:  Tue, Feb 7th 2023 @ 4:10 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

The "Protect Communities from a Porous Border Act of 2023" would require DHS to notify Governors of its intent to detain or house aliens in their state at least ten days before doing so, with a certification that they have undergone the appropriate background checks. H.R. 402 would allow Governors to refuse resettlements in their states and apply to The United States Refugee Admissions Program, paroled refugees/aliens, and unaccompanied alien children - but would not apply to asylum-seekers.

H.R. 334:

Significant Transnational Criminal Organization Designation Act

Published:  Wed, Feb 8th 2023 @ 5:19 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

H.R. 319:

Legal Workforce Act

Published:  Wed, Feb 8th 2023 @ 5:19 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

The "Legal Workforce Act" would require most employers in the U.S. to use E-Verify within 2 years. It would also increase the penalties related to knowingly hiring illegal aliens, and allows for the verification of all employees who have not been checked against the E-Verify system yet at a single geographical location.

H.R. 47:

To establish the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office within the Department of Homeland Security, and for other purposes.

Published:  Tue, Feb 7th 2023 @ 2:12 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

H.R. 47 reestablishes the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office (VOICE) within the Department of Homeland Security to provide support to victims of illegal-alien crime and their families. The office was first established by the Trump Administration and dismantled by the Biden Administration.

H.R. 63:

GRACE Act

Published:  Tue, Feb 7th 2023 @ 2:14 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Oppose

The "GRACE Act" would expand the definition of "exceptional and extremely unusual hardship" to include separating aliens subject to deportation from family members who are U.S. citizens, Legal Permanent Residents, or any other individual lawfully admitted to the U.S., essentially preventing ICE from deporting any alien with family members currently in the country (even if that family member themself happens to be an illegal visa overstayer).

H.R. 85:

To amend title 28, United States Code, to provide that the United States district court for the District of Columbia shall have exclusive jurisdiction over actions arising under the immigration laws, and for other purposes.

Published:  Tue, Feb 7th 2023 @ 2:17 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

H.R. 85 would grant jurisdiction over immigration cases brought by aliens challenging removal or other action under the Immigration and Nationality Act exclusively to the D.C. District Court - allowing the development of immigration expertise in a single court.

H.R. 87:

Grant’s Law

Published:  Tue, Feb 7th 2023 @ 2:19 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

"Grant's Law" would require the mandatory detention of illegal aliens arrested for any offense that would cause them to become inadmissible or deportable. H.R. 87 would also allow the Secretary of DHS to release illegal aliens to local authorities to face criminal proceedings; if the alien is not convicted, DHS must take them back into custody until the time of their removal from the U.S. Finally, H.R. 87 would require aliens convicted of deportable offenses to be removed from the U.S. within 90 days.

H.R. 90:

Voter Integrity Protection Act

Published:  Tue, Feb 7th 2023 @ 2:20 pm EST

NumbersUSA's Position:

Support

The "Voter Integrity Protection Act" would classify voting as an illegal alien not only as a deportable offense, which it is already, but also as an aggravated felony that carries various consequences, such as rendering the alien inadmissible, deportable, and barred from naturalization.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
