Rep. Andy Biggs joins the 100% Club

Rep. Andy Biggs of the 5th District of Arizona joined the 100% club this month. To earn a 100%, a member of Congress must go beyond voting the right way when bills come to the floor; they must be proactive throughout the legislative process and co-sponsor bills in all six of our Great Immigration Solutions categories.

Rep. Biggs has earned a career A+ Immigration-Reduction grade from NumbersUSA. He is also the sponsor of a NumbersUSA Great Immigration Solutions bill in this Congress. The Stopping Border Surges Act (H.R. 116) would:

  • allow Unaccompanied Alien Children from non-contiguous countries to be returned to their home nations (closes the “UAC loophole“),
  • allow DHS to detain family units who are apprehended after crossing the border illegally, and
  • strengthen the credible fear standard to make it more in line with the asylum standard.

Smugglers took advantage of these loopholes during the 2021-2025 border crisis to send child laborers to the United States. At 13 years old, Wander Nimajuanwas released to an adult who was not a family member. Wander expected to attend middle school, but wound up in a dangerous roofing job instead; part of a surge of illegal child labor not seen in the United States in over a hundred years.

H.R. 116 would close some of the loopholes that endanger kids like Wander. Rep. Biggs is also a co-sponsor of H.R. 251, a Great Solutions bill to mandate E-Verify and crack down on illegal hiring. Mandatory E-Verify would deliver a crushing blow to the illegal child labor networks.
