Enforcement Funding in Senate “One Big Beautiful Bill”
The final text of the budget reconciliation bill (H.R. 1) includes $170 BILLION for immigration enforcement, including:
Over $130 billion in border and detention funding from the Homeland Security Committee
Provisions include:
- $46.5 BILLION for the border wall
- $855 Million for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) vehicles
- $4.1 BILLION for hiring border patrol
- $2 BILLION for retention bonuses for border patrol
- $5 BILLION for facilities
- $45 BILLION for detention capacity
- $6.1 BILLION for border technology and screening
- $10 BILLION to reimburse states in grant funding to reimburse states for border security
- $10 BILLION for additional border security
Over $40 billion from the Judiciary Committee
Provisions include:
- $2 BILLION for additional Custom and Border Protection (CBP) Agents, transportation and expedited removal
- $29.8 BILLION for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hire more officers and provide the funds needed to deport a record number of illegal aliens, including:
- Transportation costs for removal operations
- Facility upgrades
- Fleet modernization
- §287(g) agreements for state and local law enforcement participation
- Hiring and training additional staff at ICE’s Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office; and
- Hiring and training Office of the Principal Legal Advisor attorneys and staff.
- $750 Million for ICE law enforcement training facility
- $3.32 BILLION for hiring immigration judges
- $3.5 BILLION to reimburse states for costs to apprehend and detain illegal aliens
An additional $1 BILLION for border security from the Armed Services Committee
The Senate provisions are similar to those of the version the House passed in May, which contained $150 BILLION in enforcement funding.
