Aliens convicted of illegally reentering the US, driving drunk or committing domestic violence will be barred from claiming asylum under a proposed regulation announced Wednesday by the Trump administration.

In his first sit-down interview since taking over DHS, Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf discussed the dangers of sanctuary cities, border wall construction and new plans to combat the gangs that control the flow of illegal migrants across the border. Wolf spoke to Fox News during a visit to the Texas-Mexico border.

Attorney General Bill Barr and Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf are warning state supreme courts in Washington and Oregon that moves to stop federal immigration enforcement from making arrests in and around courthouses will create an “unacceptable risk” by letting illegal immigrants convicted of violent crimes loose in communities.

Tucson Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Sanctuary City Measure

Voters in one of Arizona's most liberal cities rejected an initiative Tuesday that would have made Tucson the state's only sanctuary city amid concerns that it went too far in restricting police officers. The measure drew fierce opposition from the mayor and city council, all of them Democrats, who said the initiative risked public safety and millions of dollars the city gets from the state and federal governments.

Homan: ICE Says 100 Criminal Illegal Aliens Released into LA Every Day

Tim Robbins, ICE's top deportation official, told Congress on Tuesday that as many as 100 criminal illegal aliens are being released into the Los Angeles, Calif., area every day. While some argue that sanctuary policies are "protecting" the immigrant community, former Acting Director of ICE Tom Homan reacted, saying criminal illegal immigrants are a threat to those communities.

Judge Upholds Florida 'Sanctuary City Ban' says Police Must Comply with ICE

A federal judge has blocked part of a Florida law that required local police to cross state lines to help federal immigration authorities but left in place a provision where the officers would have to detain illegal immigrants until the feds come to collect them.

ICE Arrests Dropped in Past Year as Trump Admin Focused on Border

As the Trump Administration focused on the record-setting numbers of families and children flooding the southern border, Immigration and Customs Enforcement this year arrested significantly fewer criminal illegal aliens, the agency’s interim head said Thursday.

Justice: 64% of Federal Arrests are Non-citizens, a 200% Increase from 1998

Federal arrests of noncitizens have jumped over 200% in the last 20 years and now account for 64% of those arrested, according to the Justice Department. The Bureau of Justice Statistics said that federal arrests of non-Americans rose 234% from 1998-2018. For U.S. citizens, the percentage rose just 10% over those 20 years.

9th Circuit Rules in Favor of Trump Admin. in 'Sanctuary City' Case

In a surprising turn of events, a 2-1 opinion issued over the weekend from a panel on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a nationwide injunction issued by a federal judge, who sided with the city of Los Angeles in its lawsuit over Community Oriented Policing Services grants, which are determined by a point system that takes into account whether the city applying is a sanctuary city.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
