Harvard poll shows voters oppose rewards for illegal immigration

Voters like the idea of making legal immigrants pay their own way, and they are also keen on letting people sue sanctuary cities for crimes committed by illegal aliens — both parts of President Trump’s immigration agenda — according to polling numbers from Harvard University.

Two of the seven GOP Senate candidates in Alabama's Primary this week ran on immigration-reduction platforms after having earned career A+ NumbersUSA grades for their work in Congress.

Together, the two won 58% of the votes on Tuesday (31.7% by Jeff Sessions and 24.9% by Bradley Byrne). Sessions and former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville (who won 33.4%) will compete in a March 31 runoff election.

Federal Appeals Court Rules Against Sanctuary Cities

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court's decision today that will allow the Trump Administration to withhold certain funds from jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The ruling allows the Justice Department to withhold Byrne JAG federal grants from hundreds of local governments across the country if they continue to protect criminal illegal aliens.

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) is introducing legislation that delivers tough financial consequences to states that flout federal immigration enforcement and harm public safety and national security. Senators Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.V.), Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) are cosponsoring the legislation and Rep. Ken Buck (CO-04) is leading twenty-one members in introducing companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

More than 1,500 aliens with ICE detainers released from the Orange County Jail in 2019, many re-offended

According to data recently released from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, in the two years since the implementation of California’s State Bill 54 (SB54), the sheriff’s department has rearrested more than 400 of those they released on whom ICE had active detainers.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
