The Blaze -- Pete Kasperowicz

The government watchdog for the Department of Homeland Security released a report this week saying that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released nearly 13,000 illegal immigrants in fiscal year 2014, because ICE deemed they were not enforcement priorities.

The same report from the DHS’ Office of Inspector General found that DHS is not gathering and assessing enough data on its various policies of prosecutorial discretion, even though it had promised to do so.

As the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) makes its way through the House, Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) plans to offer his military amnesty bill as an amendment to the bill. The ENLIST Act would allow illegal aliens who enlist and serve in the military to receive a green card. Rep. Denham tried to offer the bill as an amendment to last year's NDAA, but the effort was thwarted in part by NumbersUSA activists.

Latin Post -- Selena Hill

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio criticized immigration reform activists on Friday, arguing that immigrants do not have "right" to live in the United States.

"You don't have a right to illegally immigrate here," said the Florida senator during a discussion at the National Review Institute's Ideas Summit in Washington, D.C., adding that he finds rhetoric that suggests undocumented residents have a right to stay in the U.S. problematic.

At a campaign stop in Nevada yesterday, 2016 Presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton, pledged to fight for 'comprehensive immigration reform' with an amnesty for most illegal aliens living in the United States and to go further than President Obama in using executive authority to grant amnesty to individuals in the country illegally. Changing the immigration system would be a top priority should she become president, Clinton said. "We can't wait any longer. We can't wait any longer for a path to full and equal citizenship."

Earlier this week, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) sent a letter to Pres. Obama calling for the end of the Central American Minors (CAM) Refugee/Parole Program. The program, which has been accepting applications since December 1, 2014, flies individuals from Central American countries to the U.S. for the purposes of providing an "orderly alternative to the dangerous journey that some... are currently taking to the United States." The letter was signed by 37 other Members of Congress.

While Congress was unable to stop President Obama's executive actions on immigration, a series of court cases that are making their way through the system may be able to do just that. Currently, there are court cases dealing with a wide array of issues, including amnesty and work permits for millions of illegal aliens to programs that hurt both low and high-skill American workers.

New figures provided to Congress show that deportation rates have taken a steep dive, another 25%, so far this year. For the first six months of FY 2015, which began Oct. 1, 2014, only 117,181 illegal aliens were removed. Compared to the 157,365 illegal immigrants deported during the same period last year, the statistics suggest President Obama's executive actions on immigration have significantly reduced total deportations.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
