It is hard to distinguish oneself among so many Presidential aspirants when everybody is rushing in the same direction. Beto O'Rourke tried but couldn't attract enough funding, dropping out of the race today.

Beto tried to beat his competition by advocating for the most leniency toward illegal immigration and for the most foreign workers to help business owners. (Take a look at his positions below.)

But Elizabeth Warren matched his nearly open-borders enthusiasm, and most of the rest of the candidates came very close.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis urged lawmakers Tuesday to create legislation that would require employers to use a federally operated database to verify the immigration status of workers. About two dozen states now tap into the E-Verify data. But some of them, including Florida, only require verification for government jobs.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to tour the ICE detention facility in Aurora, Colo., owned and operated by The GEO Group. This facility has been at the center of the immigration-enforcement debate ever since protesters replaced the facility's American flag with a Mexican flag and defaced a Blue Lives Matter flag earlier this summer. Here's what I saw . . .

The recent raids against seven chicken plants in Mississippi by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) demonstrate two things. Mandatory E-Verify is long overdue, and the criminal prosecution of employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens is necessary if illegal immigration is to be prevented.

Democratic voters say make all businesses use E-Verify

Will candidates agree with the Party's voters that immigration laws should favor recruiting -- and pay raises for -- American workers?

You wouldn't sense it from the candidates in the Democratic debates thus far, but most Democratic voters want the government to stop illegal migration.

And they want it done in a way that should be comfortable for Democratic candidates to espouse -- by clamping down on exploitative businesses that entice illegal migration with illegal jobs.

The Trump Administration has filed a briefing with the Supreme Court, urging the high court to quickly decide if it will hear arguments on the legal challenges to Pres. Trump's decision to end the Obama-era executive DACA amnesty that has given work permits to approximately 900,000 illegal aliens. The briefing asked the Court if it would decide before the end of the month, which marks the end of the current session, if it would hear arguments in the fall.

The Republican Study Committee's budget proposal for FY2020 suggests reducing low-skilled immigration, requiring all businesses to use E-Verify, and increasing both border and interior enforcement. The budget outline provides a starting point for House GOP lawmakers considering the committee is comprised of 140 Republican House Members, or more than 70% of the caucus.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
