The two U.S. Senators in this political battleground state are pivotal in whether 8 million illegal aliens get 10-year work permits. A poll this week finds that only 21% of Arizona's "likely voters" support the amnesty without enforcement provisions to secure the border now and to guarantee against future illegal immigration.

The most notorious parliamentary procedural tactic of the last century, known colloquially as the "filibuster," looks to be in its death throes. The previous two presidents, Trump and Obama, both called for fundamentally weakening or ending the filibuster altogether. So the question is what has the filibuster meant for immigration in the past and what could a "nuclear option" to weaken or end the filibuster mean for immigration policy?

Federal 'I-9' ID process allows every border crosser being released into U.S. to be employed here for life

It won't matter if a judge eventually orders the border crossers to go home. Or if the border crossers never show up for a hearing. Or if a claim for asylum is proven to be completely bogus. No degree of absconding will make any difference, because our current "I-9" immigration law ensures that illegal aliens can easily obtain jobs that will support them well enough so they never have to go home.

Large majorities of likely voters think that any amnesty should (1) mandate E-Verify to be fully implemented for all employers before any benefits for illegal aliens, (2) bar the amnestied illegal aliens from any family chain migration, and (3) exclude illegal aliens who have been in the country for fewer than 10 years. Pelosi's amnesty bills this week fail on all.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
