Former Sen. Rick Santorum zoomed from the back of the GOP pack on immigration issues to way out FRONT at a C-SPAN televised event in South Carolina on Friday. For the first time since 2007, we have a Presidential candidate who says LEGAL immigration numbers are too high!
For whatever reasons Iowa Republicans are getting excited about Sen. Santorum, it is a good bet that it isn't because of his immigration-issues profile -- which they likely know little about. Typically this past year, Republican voters have pushed a new presidential candidate high up the polls before taking a good look at the immigration record/platform of that candidate. CBS News recently reported some devastating statistics for Black Americans who are living with depression-era unemployment rates. Blacks are not the only ones hurting. Unemployment rates are high among almost every class of worker, especially Blacks, Latinos,and teenagers. CBS further reports that most graduating students don't have marketable skills. But the report ignored the federal government's failure to prevent U.S. employers from illegally displacing less-educated U.S. workers.
