The proposed Department of Homeland Security rule would create the worst-case situation for American workers who have to compete with the people allowed across the border. It is designed to move as many foreign workers as possible into the U.S. labor markets as quickly as possible.

There has been a lot of attention paid lately to looming water shortages in arid western states. Many reports mention the pressure that rapidly growing populations in these states are putting on rivers and aquifers as household use competes with agricultural operations for dwindling supplies. What has been given little attention is the fact that immigration is a major part of the story.

After President Biden repealed, but did not replace, President Trump's border security policies, we have all been waiting for the executive branch to provide their own vision for a secure border. A new proposed rule regarding asylum begins to paint a picture that resembles the haunting Munch classic "The Scream."

By almost any measure, the situation at the border is getting worse. The best way to help the majority of people in the sending countries is to help them where they are. The best way to discourage illegal immigration is to remove the incentives. Biden’s strategy is to offer more.

One of the most interesting things you won’t see in major media coverage of the injunction against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is the fact that then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions had already leaked the spoilers for this story in 2017. DACA beneficiaries should be asking hard questions of President Biden, Attorney General Garland, and DHS Secretary Mayorkas because they were either not smart enough to see what AG Sessions saw coming or they just didn’t care enough to try and correct the legal defects within DACA.

For the past week, news cycles have intensively covered the two crises currently unfolding in the Caribbean. Between a presidential assassination in Haiti and anti-socialist protests in Cuba, many Americans braced for another wave of crisis-driven migration - DHS Sec. Mayorkas issued a stern warning though, creating an extreme double standard in the Biden Admin.'s stance on illegal immigration.

NEPA is one of the most sweeping pieces of legislation ever passed, requiring substantial effort on the part of every federal agency to comply. NEPA pertains to federal action on immigration, but since 1970 this area of public policy has been ignored. Why is that?

Joe Biden ran a successful campaign on restoring normalcy, and with one notable exception, his approval numbers indicate that voters are generally satisfied with the early returns. Yet six months into his presidency, and after a record number of executive changes to the immigration system, it's the border policies of the previous administration that voters want to see restored.

President Biden and voters appear to have very different ideas about what "normalcy" should look like at the border.

The most notorious parliamentary procedural tactic of the last century, known colloquially as the "filibuster," looks to be in its death throes. The previous two presidents, Trump and Obama, both called for fundamentally weakening or ending the filibuster altogether. So the question is what has the filibuster meant for immigration in the past and what could a "nuclear option" to weaken or end the filibuster mean for immigration policy?

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
