Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) added his name to the list of cosponsors to three of the "5 Great Immigration-Reduction Bills" supported by NumbersUSA. On Thursday, Rep. Tiahrt cosponsored Rep. Phil Gingrey's Chain Migration bill, Rep. Nathan Deal's Birthright Citizenship Act, and Rep. Marsha Blackburn's CLEAR Act.
Rep. Gingrey's Chain Migration bill would put an end to the extended family visa categories, which has played a large role in increasing immigration numbers since 1986. Ending chain migration was a recommendation of the Barbara Jordan Commission in 1997.
Rep. Deal's Birthright Citizenship Act would change the citizenship law for babies born in the United States by requiring at least one of the parents be a U.S. citizen or legal resident. Rep. Blackburn's CLEAR Act would increase resources for local law enforcement officials wishing to enforce federal immigration laws.
Rep. Tiahrt has a career grade of a C+ with a recent grade of a B.
