Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), the ranking members of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, expressed concern at many of the provisions of the PASS ID Act -- the bill proposed by Sen. Daniel Akaka to replace the hugely important REAL ID program.

The America's Affordable Health Choice Act, Congress' new plan for universal health care, is being marked up by the House Energy and Commerce Committee today. As written, the bill will allow millions of illegal aliens to receive taxpayer-funded health care. Rep. Nathan Deal will be submitting amendments to prevent this from occurring.
During a speech at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast President Obama assured the audience that he was committed to comprehensive immigration reform.
A new report released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform conclusively disproves many of the arguments used by amnesty proponents; in particular, that an amnesty would help America's ailing economy and improve working conditions for all Americans.
"Italy's conservative prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has sought to deflect criticism of Italy's harsh immigration policies by stressing potential migrants are welcome in his country. In an interview posted to the US television network CNN's website on Monday, he said immigrants who qualified to come to Italy should be allowed to work and create a better life for themselves and their families.
"We welcome those (immigrants) who have the right to come here. This is what the United States and all normal countries do," Berlusconi told CNN.
