Immigration-expansionist Sen. Jeff Flake revealed today in the New York Times that illegal immigration and reliance on foreign labor was an integral part of his childhood experience.

He recounts a touching relationship growing up with one illegal worker and argues that America needs more immigrants like him who know little English and have little education. I don't doubt Sen. Flake's heart-felt good will toward the foreign workers on the family ranch. But personal sentimentality alone does not make for a just or rational public policy. The RAISE Act does.

A national poll taken just before Pres. Trump endorsed the RAISE Act in a White House event on Aug. 2 found overwhelming support for the bill's central feature -- reducing legal immigration from around one million a year to around a half-million.

Pulse Opinion Research surveyed 1,000 "likely mid-term voters" on July 24-25 and asked them how many legal immigrants should be allowed each year. The firm stated that the results had a margin of sampling error of only 3 percentage points, and had a 95% level of confidence.

For five weeks, the White House bully pulpit has been quiet in terms of repeating Donald Trump's campaign promises to rescue vulnerable American workers from the harm of a reckless legal immigration system.

That changed tonight with Pres. Trump's address to a joint session of Congress.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
