New CR Would Extend E-Verify Until December

The Senate has introduced a continuing resolution to fund the government through Dec. 11 that would reauthorize E-Verify and the EB-5 visa program. Both programs were set to expire at the end of the fiscal year that ends on Sept. 30.

Border Arrests Jump 52 Percent In August

According to statistics released by the U.S. Border Patrol yesterday, nearly 10,000 unaccompanied minors and families were arrested last month along the U.S.-Mexico border, a 52 percent jump from last year.

John Kerry Syrian Refugee Increase

At a meeting in Berlin, Germany Secretary of State, John Kerry, said that the U.S. will not stop at the proposed additional 10,000 Syrians coming to the U.S. next year. He said the Obama administration plans on increasing the cap for worldwide refugees from 70,000 to 100,000 by 2017.

According to Robert Rector, a Heritage Foundation scholar, the president's plan to take in an additional 10,000 Syrian refugees would cost U.S. taxpayers $130 million per year. Over the next 50 years the costs for these additional refugees would add up to $6.5 billion for American taxpayers.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
