Buzzfeed News -- David Noriega

Immigration lawyers pressured H&R Block, the tax preparation giant, to shut down a pilot program meant to help immigrants file forms with the government. The service would have put H&R block in direct competition with attorneys and legal groups dedicated to helping immigrants navigate federal laws.

Christian Post -- Phyllis Schlafly

Seeing as the costs will come due only after Barack Obama has left the White House, I guess he doesn't care how high those costs are. But the costs are horrendous, as just added up by our country's foremost authority on such things, Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation.

A new report from the Census bureau predicts that nearly one-fifth of America’s total population will be foreign-born in a mere 45 years.

Immigrants, legal and illegal, will enjoy 85 percent growth — from 42 million to 78 million — by 2060.

In contrast, the native-born population, which includes children born to illegal aliens, will increase by 22 percent or 62 million.

Obama Job Approval Poll: Illegal Immigration Is Most Unpopular Issue With Americans

International Business Times -- Howard Koplowitz

The president’s most unpopular stance, according to the poll, is on immigration. Obama announced executive actions late last year that would protect some 5 million illegal immigrants from deportation -- a move that angered Congress and set up a fight between the president and the legislature over how to fund the Department of Homeland Security, which enforces immigration. The agency is set to run out of money later this month if Congress doesn’t secure funding.

Denver Post -- Nancy Lofholm

Thousands of immigrants attempting to seek legal status or other court actions in Colorado are having their cases delayed for nearly five years — an unprecedented backlog in this state's immigration court.

The backlog that some Denver immigration attorneys call "a standstill" is part of national immigration court jam of almost 430,000 cases. But the legal pileup is particularly bad in Colorado, where all the immigration judges have been ordered to hear only priority cases.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials report a criminal immigrant recidivism rate of 50 percent, according to Center for Immigration Studies expert Jessica Vaughan.

“What I’m told by ICE officials — and I’ve been told on a number of occasions — is that they believe, from their internal data, is there is a recidivism rate of about 50 percent of criminal aliens who are released by ICE –,” Vaughan testified before the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
