In his August 26 article, “California, We Can’t Go On Like This,” The New York Times columnist Farhad Manjoo said that "the nation's most populous state" was also failing to live sustainably. Readers were quick to point out that Manjoo failed to make the connection between the two.

The Democratic Party approved its Party Platform during its national convention this week, and while some Democrats complained that it didn't go far enough in embracing a more open-borders agenda, there's not much to like for supporters of reduced immigration.

In picking Sen. Kamala Harris of California to complete his ticket, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has made two groups very happy -- Wall St. and Silicon Valley. If her voting record on immigration is any indication, Sen. Harris will aggressively advocate for the Biden-Sanders 'Unity Plan' -- a list of policy recommendations that would increase legal immigration while all but eliminating immigration enforcement. That's good news for Big Business and bad news for American workers and their wages.

Continual population growth creates more noise. This ultimately solutions as short-term band-aids as more people are using the same limited resources - including our national parks. Our federal government has the ability to address this issue by reducing immigration-driven population growth, which accounts for 88% of U.S. population growth.

Americans are constantly hearing that there is a shortage of doctors in the U.S. There's a bi-partisan push in Congress to bring in even more foreign doctors because COVID-19 has made it worse, so the argument goes. None of this is true. The reality is there are not enough opportunities for American doctors, too many of who are unable to practice in their own country.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
