House Homeland Security Subcommittee Tries to Create a Definition for 'Border Control'

The House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security hosted a hearing Tuesday morning on the definition of “Operational Control” of the border. With new rumors of an immigration bill developing in the Senate, it has become important to define the meaning of “operational control.” Chairwoman Candice Miller (R-Mich) even admitted that “it’s starting to become a buzz word…but we really don’t know what it means.”

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement hosted a hearing Thursday morning on the merits of E-Verify and its capability to protect American jobs from illegal workers. The Committee conducted a demonstration of the E-Verify where it made its case as a quick, easy, and user-friendly program for determining the employment eligibility of a new employee. But that didn't keep some of the more skeptical Members from offering their opposition.
