Nearly two dozen Congressional Democrats are turning up the pressure on Pres. Biden to include an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens as part of his massive infrastructure and jobs proposal.
Mostly along party lines, the House of Representatives approved two bills -- the American Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act -- that would grant amnesty to more than 5 million illegal aliens in the midst of one of the worst border surges in history.
Customs and Border Protection announced this week that Border Patrol agents apprehended 96,974 illegal border crossers in February. That's the largest number of apprehensions since the border surge of 2019 when Border Patrol agents apprehended 99,273 and 132,856 in April and May, respectively. The February number is 45% higher than the number from February of 2019, suggesting that this spring's numbers could be much larger than 2019.
While the White House focuses its attention on keeping "families together" and allowing illegal aliens to "more fully contribute to our country", the Biden immigration bill includes a massive expansion to the existing employment-based immigration system, allowing employers to import cheap foreign workers to fill new jobs.
The Senate approved an amendment offered by Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) to the Covid relief bill that would block stimulus checks from going to illegal aliens. Eight Democrats sided with all 50 Republicans, allowing the amendment to pass by a 58-42 margin.
On Tuesday Judge Tipton in the Southern District of Texas issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Biden Administration's 100 day deportation freeze. One of the reasons provided in justification of this TRO was that Biden's administration acted in an arbitrary and capricious fashion.

The House of Represen -tatives passed H.R. 8428, the Hong Kong People's Freedom and Choice Act, that would grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to nationals from Hong Kong living in the United States at the time of enactment. The bill would also ensure that Hong Kong nationals facing persecution from the Chinese government can be considered for refugee resettlement in the United States.
The Departments of Justice and Homeland Security announced publication of a final rule this week aimed at barring certain criminal aliens from claiming asylum in the United States. The rule would go into effect in late November.
