In an outrageous new development, the Obama Administration has started a program to bring the Central American relatives of the illegal aliens it has amnestied (or plans to amnesty) to the United States! Instead of forcing the minors, and near minors, to face the dangerous and expensive trip from Central America on their own (like the 60,000 who came in the 2014 border surge), the federal government will fly them directly to the U.S. courtesy of the American taxpayer.

This is the time of year when many pro-amnesty advocates in the pulpit and the press misuse the Bible to try to try to advance their cause. This year, churchgoers are fortunate to have access to a much different explanation of scripture, thanks to the emergence of a group called Evangelicals for Biblical Immigration and to a fascinating panel recently sponsored by the Heritage Foundation to inform congressional staffers and the media.

Obama, 'Gang of Eight' duck the hardest question

Immigration policy comes down to two questions: "Who gets in?" and "How many get in?" In the end, Washington has to decide the numbers. One hundred and fifty million adults worldwide want to permanently immigrate to the U.S. today, according to a Gallup poll. The United States government is going to say "no" to most them. But the Senate and the White House refuse to acknowledge reality. They have presented Utopian proposals where anyone in the world can get a U.S. work permit except terrorists and ax murderers.

What a political season we're living in! Overseas, the entire Middle East is exploding into revolution. We can only hope it leads to an improvement. And now right here in the U.S., state capitals are erupting in rancorous divisions over how to deal with huge budget shortfalls. At first blush, it looks like the issue of immigration doesn't figure that high with all the budget upheavals and foreign government changes, but keep reading . . .

With the defeat of so many pro-Amnesty Members of Congress on election night, I thought we'd heard the last of amnesties for awhile. Didn't you?

Unfortunately, we have one more pretty steep mountain to climb as soon as Congress comes back from Thanksgiving.

A Dose of Reality Turns DREAMs into Nightmares

A line-by-line analysis of the DREAM Act reveals no end to the nightmares. (1) The amnesty applies to illegal-alien "kids" up to age 35; (2) no provision requires that aliens provide proof that their claims of eligibility for the amnesty are true; (3) but the feds have to perform costly, time-consuming investigations to prove the claims are false in order to deny an amnesty to anybody; (4) the parents who broke the law to bring these "kids" here can get U.S. citizenship; (5) DREAM would remove the federal ban on in-state tuition for future illegal aliens.

I've been with NumbersUSA for all of our 14 years. One of my jobs is to send regular emails summarizing the latest on our political struggle, while also asking members to donate.

(Thanks for reading my letters and helping with the funding. This entire website, including our faxing capability and Congressional gradecards, is supported by small donations from you members.)

I write these letters to members, and thousands of you write me back. One thing I've noticed: Giving automatic U.S. citizenship to children of illegal immigrants and tourists, the so-called "birthright citizenship," seems to mortify members more than any other issue. It just seems unjust.

Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi are facing a dilemma: Although they publicly bemoan the fact that Republicans won’t help them pass an unpopular amnesty . . . er, comprehensive immigration-reform bill, they don’t want to force vulnerable Democrats to vote on amnesty this close to the November elections — especially not with unemployment at 9.5 percent.

On Thursday, President Obama gave a speech at American University in Washington D.C., blaming partisan politics for Congress' inability to pass comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty). The President also noted that our borders are as secure as they have been in decades and that America's immigration laws are unenforceable.

Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano have admitted they haven't read the 10-page Arizona immigration enforcement law, but they were quick to criticize the bill. But in their criticism of Arizona's law, formerly known as SB1070, they also revealed their lack of understanding for federal immigration law. Here's a list of suggested readings for them and others critical of the law.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
