The U.S. needs more immigrants, many more, to "grow the economy" we are constantly being told by economic "experts." We don't want to be like Japan, they say. Yet, Japan scores much higher than the U.S. on most economic indicators, including its ability to avoid the high inflation gripping the U.S. and the E.U.

No one can logically argue that the quality of life, long-term economic stability, and the health of the environment will not worsen if the current level of migration into the United States continues. And, yet, the Biden Administration is intent on letting in even more people, legally or not.

The NumbersUSA National Sprawl Study shows that over 68,000 acres of open space was lost to development from 1982-2017, 67% of that loss due to population growth. Driving that growth and subsequent sprawl is the level of immigration to the U.S. Reducing immigration is the most effective way to preserve open spaces and ensure food security for the American people.

Minors are being trafficked across the border by violent cartels who are making enormous profits due to policies implemented by DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas. Abuse, assault, and neglect of children are commonplace. And there is a long list of NGOs who are facilitating all of this while claiming they are only there to "help."

Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, frequently uses the retort "More Immigration!" whenever a problem facing the U.S. is raised in the media. He uses it tongue in cheek, of course, to mock those, like Kelsey Norman in Foreign Affairs, who do make immigration the panacea that will save Americans from ourselves.

American society faces a very grim future if it continues to ignore the number one population-consumption growth driver here at home: immigration.

There has been a lot of attention paid lately to looming water shortages in arid western states. Many reports mention the pressure that rapidly growing populations in these states are putting on rivers and aquifers as household use competes with agricultural operations for dwindling supplies. What has been given little attention is the fact that immigration is a major part of the story.

The border fence along the border with Mexico has been a contentious issue. Many environmental organizations have opposed barriers because of concerns about the effect on wildlife habitats, but has any acknowledged the widespread destruction caused by illegal immigration coming through Mexico?

How would you answer that question? This was how it was put to me recently and I thought it might be helpful to others to share how I responded. It is my job, of course, to talk about immigration reduction, but it also is something I strongly believe will help Americans, especially the most desperate already among us.

The United Kingdom is facing many of the same immigration-related issues as the United States because policy makers have failed to plan sufficiently for immigration-driven population growth, while public support for reducing annual immigration levels remains strong. In order to accommodate housing demand, open space is being paved over for development.

NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation provides a civil forum for Americans of all political and ethnic backgrounds to focus on a single issue, the numerical level of U.S. immigration. We educate opinion leaders, policymakers and the public on immigration legislation, policies and their consequences. We favor reductions in immigration numbers toward traditional levels that would allow present and future generations of Americans to enjoy a stabilizing U.S. population and a high degree of individual liberty, mobility, environmental quality, worker fairness and fiscal responsibility.

Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an “immigration-reduction organization.”
