The House Armed Services Committee passed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 on Wednesday night without including Rep. Jeff Denham's (R-Calif.) ENLIST Act or Rep. Mike Coffman's (R-Colo.) Military Enlistment Act. Both bills would have granted amnesty to certain illegal aliens who enlist in the military.

The Committee's Ranking Member, Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), did offer the Denham bill as an amendment late Wednesday night, but he withdrew since the bill hasn't been scored and it he didn't have an offset for it.

The bill proceeds to the full House for consideration, but not before going through the House Rules Committee first. The Rules Committee will determine what amendments can and can't be offered to the underlying bill.

Sure glad that I went to school when the biggest problems were a bully or two and someone caught smoking a cigarette in the bathroom.

Has anyone other than me considered maybe the time has come to erase all laws and regulations other than the Constitution, and begin over? This time applying and voting for common sense rather then party!

Would love it, nothing like a second chance to get it correct but the way you want to proceed now is the way I think it was suppose to work in the beginning.

We have a start, Glen, you, another friend of mine and myself would make three in terms of building towards a consensus of opinion. Shall we keep working on it?

Yep,you're right it was supposed to work that way, egad, lets not let Congress in on this. If any agreed we'd wind up with a Committee, probably at least 2 sub-Committees and they would complicate the hell out of it. We better wait for something to replace Congress, huh?

Oh, wait a minute, how about a citizens committee to supercede Congress. Oh, we've got that now, they are known as voters. Well, at this time it does'nt look as if that is working well.

The Founding Fathers stated that it's only possible to have representative government if the citizenry is virtuous. Think about it. Think 1/2 the people living in the U. S. know what virtue is? They weren't talking about religion or Christianity, they were talking about having ethics, values and positive principles. I don't think most Americans understand those things anymore. It's all self-interest.

The "new" guidelines really haven't changed anything so I suspect this is for political consumption. Only 17 complaints were registered nationwide with the Education Dept. plus an undisclosed number with Justice

This is the best sentence of the whole article:

"Perhaps the easiest solution would be for Congress to simply ban states from issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens."

Sylvia, don't you love it? People who own multi-million dollar homes all over the world (the Pitt/Jolie's have a 7 million dollar castle in France they purchased for her to give birth to the twins in--among many other international homes; George Clooney lives in a seaside villa in Italy and spends very little time in the U.S.). They don't have to live in this country. They have no idea what it's like being middle class or working class. They just think they're wonderful people because they want Americans to support all the poor peasants all over the globe.

They live in own world. These celebrities don't live in this nightmare. If they and political leaders had to live and work with us peasants they'd change their tune on this issue really fast!

I haven't seen any of Jared Leto's movies since "Urban Legend" and "Switchback"! That was years ago! I wasn't even aware of him being in movies anymore! Now he want illegals aliens here! Fine you pay for them!

This is a good victory and we should celebrate but we still have a lot of work to do. We must get CONgress to force this admin to enforce our current laws and Detect, Detain, and Deport (3D method for immigration enforcement) all illegal aliens. We then move on to getting rid of the anchor baby amendment, end welfare/jobs for them and go after the employers. No jobs they'll self-deport at their own expense for the most part. I'd also suggest limiting legal immigration to 250K per year and then only when our own legal citizens can't be trained for the jobs. Welfare recipients should be required to work if they are able bodied or they don't get any tax $$$.

I saw Richard Dreyfuss on fox tonight and he makes a lot of sense, he has a website:
click on what interests you and read it, we sometimes feel like we cannot do anything to change this world, but this website gives you information to empower you...Dreyfuss was talking about our govt and how to be more proactive but to also know how we can solve our probs thru information, you have to go...

The simple fact that illegals are, "Illegal", will not qualify them to serve period.
Any one that thinks otherwise, has got to be absolutely insane.
I am a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force, and have served with many immigrants, but each and every one were legal residents.

I just read that Eric Cantor no longer welcomes Jeff Denham's military amnesty bill in the House, but sore loser Dick Durbin refuses to take NO from him. He stubbornly won't give it up for younger illegal aliens. He tries to find a way to sneak it into another kind of amnesty bill. He vows that he will come back for it pretty soon. It is no surprise I know he would always do it over and over and put amnesty bills only, nothing else for American citizens, on the table in the Congress. He would better shut up and bury it in the graveyard. Keep an eye on him! A patriot named honorable Senator Jeff Sessions is the opposite of a traitor named dishonorable politician Dick Durbin.

Up-to-date: "Sen. Dick Durbin Calls On Pentagon To Enlist DREAMers" by Tony Lee for (5/20/14) Although Dick Durbin is one of the biggest sore losers in the Congress, he refuses to zip his mouth. He and Jeff Denham still want to keep Enlist Act alive. Keep an eye on them!
