Indiana State Senator Proposes Tougher Immigration Bill

Last year, Indiana Senator Mike Delph proposed an immigration bill that failed, but he's proposed a new bill which he says would be the toughest immigration law in the country. Delph filed Senate Bill 580 for the third straight year, which is designed to punish those who harbor, transport or employ illegal aliens in the State of Indiana.

RI Lawmakers Beef Up Immigration Proposals

Rhode Island State Representative Jon Brien is strengthening an immigration reform proposal for the state assembly. Rep. Brien's proposal has passed the Rhode Island House in the previous two years before stalling in the General Assembly. But this year's bill expands the mandatory use of E-Verify from state agencies and vendors to private businesses.

Haitians Denied Temporary Immigration Protection

The Bush Administration has denied temporary protected status to Haitians already living in the United States illegally while the nation recovers from tropical storms. The request for temporary protected status came from Haitian President René Préval to allow tens of thousands of Haitians already in the United State illegally to stay until the island recovers.
