Americans of ALL religions join NumbersUSA in pushing a moral policy of lower immigration numbers

author Published by Roy Beck

See below the religious affiliations of NumbersUSA’s activist members.

Our survey unveils a remarkable diversity that reflects our nation as a whole.

The results defy efforts of open-borders enthusiasts to paint NumbersUSA as coming from a narrow spectrum of the American people.

Approximately the same percentage of our members as the public at large report having no religious affiliation.
Most of our members — like most Americans — are religious or are part of a non-religious ethical grouping.

Our survey creates a direct challenge to the special interest groups that gain money and power off high immigration and who try to create a moral veneer by persuading various religious leaders to say that those of us who favor less immigration are perhaps anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish, anti-Jesus or anti-moral.

For example, because we criticize those Catholic bishops who urge amnesty and an end to immigration enforcement, we sometimes are called anti-Catholic (an effort to tie us to very real, bigoted anti-catholicism of the 19th century) . . . . . . .

. . . . .   but 26% of our activist members are Catholic.  Obviously, our beef with immigration numbers is not about being opposed to Catholics.

Some open-borders types have even suggested that our low-immigration position is based on opposition to people with non-Christian faiths . . . . . . . .

. . . . . but Jews and Buddhists comprise a higher percentage of NumbersUSA’s membership than they do of the U.S. population (although our Islamic membership is low).

I believe that people of all religious and ethical persuasions are attracted to work with NumbersUSA because they perceive that it is intrinsically moral to pursue NumbersUSA’s goals of adopting immigration policies that . . .

don’t harm the vulnerable members of our national community,
don’t harm our natural environment,
and don’t harm our system of self-determination that has raised the dignity of individuals since our nation’s founding.

RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION OF NUMBERSUSA’S ACTIVIST MEMBERS

The first number on each line below is the percentage of NumbersUSA members who claim a religious affiliation. Because of some double-affiliations, percentages will add up a bit above 100.

(If there is a second number in parentheses, it is the percentage of all Americans who claim the religious affiliation, according to Gallup polling.  You will see that Americans in general have affiliations that are remarkably similar to the affiliations found in NumbersUSA’s survey of its 900,000+ activist members.)
