Long-time West Virginia Rep with F-grade Loses in Primary

author Published by Chris Chmielenski

Rep. Alan Mollohan (D-W.V.), who was seeking his 15th term in Congress, lost in yesterday’s Democratic Primary in West Virginia. Rep. Mollohan has a career F-grade with NumbersUSA and holds an F in every category except for increasing unnecessary foreign workers.

State Senator Mike Oliverio defeated Rep. Mollohan, receiving 56% of the vote. Oliverio will face the state’s Republican Party Chair David McKinley in the fall general election.

In other news, three-term incumbent Senator Robert Bennett (R-Utah), who has a career C-, was kept from entering the Republican Primary after not receiving enough votes at this past weekend’s GOP state convention in Utah.

With an anti-incumbent wave brewing, check back with us next week to learn the results of primaries in Pennsylvania where Democrat Senator Arlen Specter is fighting for his political life, Arkansas where Democrat Senator Blanche Lincoln is defending her seat, and Kentucky where Republicans are battling to replace Retiring Senator Jim Bunning.
