Ranking Member of the House Immigration Subcommittee Steve King (R-Iowa) is requesting a release of the Congressional Budget Office's score of the DREAM Act. The CBO analyzes the potential cost or savings of bills offered in Congress. Rep. King says the DREAM Act could cost as much as $20 billion.
“There are reports that Senate Democrats are covering-up an analysis showing that granting illegal aliens amnesty under the DREAM Act will cost upwards of $20 billion,” Rep. King said in a press release. “If these reports are true, Democrats are willfully misleading Members of Congress, and the American public, about the costs of their open-borders agenda in order to secure support for their controversial amnesty legislation.”
Rep. King said he has contacted the CBO and asked them to release a score of the DREAM Act before lawmakers are forced to vote on it.
"[T]he American public will not tolerate the passage of a $20 billion giveaway program for illegal aliens," Rep. King said.
