Mandate E-Verify-plus
  • We have not been able to locate any comments made by Sen. Warren regarding the E-Verify system.  However, Warren did back the Gang of Eight's 2013 amnesty legislation..  This legislation, while helpful in that it mandated use of the E-Verify system, did not require 100% of employers to use it, had no enforcement mechanism, and did not contain triggers.

Prevent illegal border entries & surges
  • Sen. Warren voted for the Gang of Eight amnesty, legislation that would have weakened border security if passed. She also opposed several amendments that would have ensured the completion of the border fence.

Implement Congress-mandated enforcement & disincentives
  • Sen. Warren voted for the Gang of Eight's amnesty bill in 2013 that discouraged cooperation between state/local police and the federal government in the enforcement of federal immigration laws and reversed a 1996 law that prevented states from granting in-state tuition benefits to illegal aliens.

Finish entry-exit system to track visa overstays
  • Sen. Warren, in addition to supporting the Gang of Eight amnesty that weakened current entry/exit law, twice opposed amendments to the the Gang of Eight amnesty that would have required the implementation of a biometric entry/exit system at all ports of entry.

End automatic birthright citizenship
  • We have not found any examples of Sen. Warren discussing birthright citizenship.

Oppose work permits for illegal immigrants

Support overall reduction in annual immigration
  • While Sen. Warren has not called for increased immigration numbers, she backed the 2013 Gang of 8 amnesty legislation, which drastically increased immigration numbers across a variety of categories. We do not believe Warren holds a view for this category that is contradictory to her support for the amnesty bill.

End chain migration
  • While Sen. Warren supported the Gang of Eight amnesty legislation that substantially reduced chain migration in the long-term, the legislation also provided for a chain migration explosion in the initial years after passage.  Furthermore, this was not a vote specifically on reducing or increasing chain migration and Warren has not addressed this issue.

Protect against unfair work-visa competition
  • Sen. Warren supported the Gang of Eight amnesty, that included a large rise in foreign worker visas, and has shown belief in the fallacy that increased immigration can solve economic problems such as funding Social Security: "We want to have social security? Bring more workers and bring more people out of the shadow economy and into the fully paid economy where everything is above the table." End visa lottery
  • Sen. Warren voted for the Gang of Eight amnesty that eliminated the visa lottery. We have not been able to find any statements from Warren regarding the lottery.
