While the current proposal is short on details, Rosemary Jenks has reviewed it and tells me it is basically the same sweeping amnesty we defeated in 2007 with "updated" language to re-brand the amnesty. We had hoped that the new voices of Senators Rubio (R-FL) and Lee (R-UT)[both members of the so-called Senate "Gang of Eight"] would bring some new perspective to an immigration proposal so we were especially disappointed to see their Amnesty 2.0 proposal be nothing more than a rehash of the failed 2007 amnesty.

Many of you are already aware of some of the following facts about birthright citizenship:
Unfortunately the race to out-amnesty one another just got a new contender as President Obama announced his support for an even more wide-reaching amnesty. As all-encompassing as the Gang of Eight amnesty proposal is, President Obama's proposal goes even further.
Federal District Court Judge Reed O'Conner has ruled that 10 ICE agents and officers have standing to challenge in Federal court the so-called Morton Memo on prosecutorial discretion and the DREAM directive on deferred action. The agents filed their complaint in October, charging that unconstitutional and illegal directives from DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and ICE Director John Morton order the agents to violate federal laws or face adverse employment actions. This is a major first step for the ICE agents in their case against the administration.
Please go to your NumbersUSA Action Board this week and send a message to your U.S. Representative and President Obama that you strongly oppose amnesty for illegal aliens and any attempt to raise overall immigration numbers. With various amnesty proposals currently being floated by prominent Democrats and Republicans from both Chambers and the White House, it is absolutely critical that the drumbeat for No Amnesty begins to echo through the halls of Congress. You can read more about the current legislative situation below.

At NumbersUSA we believe that the numerical level of immigration should
be set in ways that: allow for a stabilizing U.S. population; allow for
the preservation of Americans’ individual liberty; and allow for
fairness in economic opportunity for Americans and legal workers.
Update 1:04 AM Monday
Roy and Rosemary have spent the last several hours at the Park Police headquarters. They report good news that Roy's guard has been released from custody, although he is ordered to appear in court to defend himself next month. He was falsely charged with assault by one of the mimes after Park Police ordered her to stop harassing Roy. It was difficult seeing him led away in handcuffs from the Mall after his afternoon of protecting Roy from the constant efforts at crushing physical intimidation.

This video captures the essence of NumbersUSA and is a must-see for anyone who wants to fully understand the basic information behind our work.
