"This message is for Members of the House of Representatives. After September 11, most Americans want to eliminate the threat of terrorism from illegal foreign nationals. But if you pass H.R. 1885, which enacts the 245(i) loophole, you'll actually make it easier for illegal aliens to remain in the country. When polls show Americans demanding thorough screening of foreign nationals crossing our borders and deportation of visa violators, do you really want to pass a law that further overwhelms the INS and allows possible terrorists to avoid tougher background checks? Do you really want to allow illegal aliens to stay here instead of returning to their home country for more thorough screening by U.S. Embassies? All for the small price of a thousand dollar fine? Surely our security is worth more than that. Before you vote for H.R. 1885 to enact section 245(i), think about what's best for American security. Not what's convenient for those who may do us harm.
