WASHINGTON, DC – Today the 9/11 Families for a Secure America (9/11 FSA) and NumbersUSA announced that Rep. John Hostettler (R-IN), Rep. Lincoln Davis (D-TN), Sen. James Talent (R-MO), and Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) will be presented with the first annual Homeland Defender Award for their ongoing, tireless efforts to ensure the security of our homeland and of the American people.
Recipients of the Homeland Defender Awards are selected on the basis of their votes, legislative work and leadership on critical national security issues related to our borders, immigration and document fraud, interior enforcement, and security gaps in our visa and immigration programs and policies.
The Homeland Defender Awards are sponsored by the 9/11 FSA and NumbersUSA and will be presented to the honorees at a press conference on Tuesday, September 26th, at noon. The 9/11 FSA is a non-profit organization comprised of survivors and family members of victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. It seeks to inform and educate the American public, elected officials and legislators of the obvious and not so obvious shortcomings in our nation's security, including the links between immigration policies and terrorism. The ultimate goal of 9/11 FSA is to secure our nation against future terrorist attacks.
NumbersUSA is a non-profit, non-partisan, public policy organization with more than 220,000 active members across the United States. It supports the recommendations of the bi-partisan Barbara Jordan Commission on Immigration Reform and works with government whistleblowers and others to ensure adequate oversight of the Federal agencies tasked with implementing our immigration laws and securing our nation against terrorist attacks.
