Two new polls reveal that Americans favor lower immigration numbers, stronger border and interior enforcement, and oppose giving amnesty to the 12-18 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States. While Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) works on a “comprehensive immigration reform” bill that would provide a mass amnesty to illegal aliens and increase America’s overly generous immigration numbers, Americans want a very different solution.
Over the past several months, the Department of Homeland Security has shifted workplace enforcement efforts from illegal workers to the employers that hire them. They’ve also weakened the 287(g) program that allows local and state law enforcement agents to receive federal immigration training so they are able to enforce America’s immigration laws. But Americans disagree with both moves.
Sixty-four percent of respondents want local police officers to conduct raids where illegal aliens routinely gather to find work. Only 19% oppose these raids. Back in March, Rasmussen asked the same question, and 24% of Americans opposed worksite raids. During these tough economic times, though, Americans are realizing the impact of 8 million illegal aliens in the workforce and want something done about it.
When asked if the employers who hire illegal aliens should be arrested too, 71% of Americans thought they should. That’s up from 68% back in March. The survey also asked if Americans believed that U.S. immigration policy encouraged illegal immigration, and 56% thought it did.
A separate poll conducted by CNN and the Opinion Research Corporation revealed that 73% of Americans want to see a decrease in the number of illegal aliens in the United States. CNN has asked the same question since 2006 and this is the largest number of Americans calling for a decrease. In January 2008, only 65% of Americans thought the number should be reduced.
Another question asked respondents if they wanted all illegal aliens deported, and 37% said yes. That, too, was the highest number in the poll's history. According to CNN’s polling director, three of four regions support the deportation of illegal aliens. Only the West had fewer respondents think that deportation was a solution. You can see many more poll results on our website by rolling your mouse over the “Resources” menu and selecting “public opinion polls.” The polls are organized into 11 different categories, which are listed in the left margin on the polls page.

ALL illegal aliens WILL be covered under the new health care reform legislation if a 'public option' is included in any form in the bill. Regardless of whether the States have an opt-out choice, the Supreme Court will follow precedent and over-rule the States, requiring that ALL THE PEOPLE, whether citizens or not, be covered by the new health care act in all the States. Please contact your Senators and Representative to ask that they oppose inclusion of a 'public option' in the bill. And if all the illegals get free U.S.-quality health care at taxpayer expense, including for all pre-existing conditions, can you imagine the stampede of illegals who will charge our borders? This is the most important illegal immigration issue currently facing Congress and the media have buried it. Call your Congressmen today. Fox News (The O'Reilly Factor) discussed this explosive provision of the health care bill recently, and Judge Napolitano and constitutional scholars discussed it and confirmed that if a public option is included in health care reform, all illegal immigrants will be covered! Even if the bill specifically bars illegals from its benefits, they will still be covered under the provisions of the U.S. Constitution, the same provisions which make illegals eligible for free public education and other services provided by the federal government in all 50 states. This will bankrupt the health care system in the U.S. The clock is ticking fast on the passage of health care reform, so call your Congressmen NOW. Thank you.

Olivia, I'm afraid that Judge Napolitano is wrong on this issue. The court precedent he uses is Plyer v. Doe, which said that illegal alien children had protection from discrimination -- in this case being denied primary education -- because a substantial state interest could be shown to justify it. In other words, they were in the U.S. through no fault of their own, so a state could not justify denying them primary education. The ruling did not apply to adults, however, who have control over whether or not they remain in the U.S. illegally. Moreover, the government has the ability under the Constitution to exclude classes of people from benefits under legislation or otherwise treat people differently. Examples: felons are not permitted to vote; legal permanent residents are not permitted to use many federal welfare programs for five years; and yes, illegal aliens are not permitted to use many federal welfare programs. The problem comes down to verification. If a state doesn't run applicants through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system to check eligibility, and require proper photo ID, then nothing is essentially preventing illegal aliens from applying for benefits. This is why we have been fighting so hard for verification under health care reform.

Here is an article from the SF paper today - SF to ease up on unlicensed drivers
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/10/26/BA381A9A9N.D... - it will infuriate you. Read it and write to everyone you can think of to get it out there. I sent it to CNN 360 - hoping they will look in to it and seriously raise the question of the sanctuary city policies and how those policies continue to make it too easy to break the laws.
Overview - SF to ease up on unlicensed drivers.
The reason: Many such drivers are in the United States illegally - and thus unable to get a license - and the officials pushing the change think that impounding their cars is an unfair hardship.
Can you believe it? These are also the folks who don't have insurance - what's going to happen when one of these unlicensed folks is allowed to keep driving - what happens when they have an accident? What if they kill someone?
If I were driving without a license (I have a valid one but you have to have it on your person while driving) - maybe I left it at home by accident - I would get a ticket!!! The police are going to look the other way in every aspect.

I had a vacation to SF planned for last year, but cancelled it due to their policies on sanctuary for illegals.
Will avoid going there for 2010 also, but will notify the governors office and department of tourism what the reasons are.
Thanks for the article.

No worries about rambling - you are expressing what so many of us are also furious about! Look at what I just posted in regards to SF easing up on unlicensed drivers - it will further infuriate you.
The reason they are doing this is because many such drivers are in the United States illegally - and thus unable to get a license - and the officials pushing the change think that impounding their cars is an unfair hardship.
Can you believe it?

"Over the past several months, the Department of Homeland Security has shifted workplace enforcement efforts from illegal workers to the employers that hire them."
This is a subject that I find appalling. The DHS first states that are going to do away with arrest of IA workers at company sites BUT promise they are going to go after employers instead. Just HOW MANY employers have been arrested?
They have a supposed list of 652 companies but how many of these have been visited. It is as if they won't do unannounced visits. I hope, as time allows, NumbersUSA will do an in depth article on what I feel is a major decption by DHS. There has been only silence on this subject from DHS.

But those employers don't have to use E-Verify - there are no checks and balances to enforce. There isn't anything being done by the DHS to protect the legal American works - everything is being done to enable illegal immigration.
It's an embarassment to this entire country.

Question for the moderator or blogger:
I know NumbersUSA is a non-partisan organization, but is there any way members who live in non-safe districts and had Congressmen and Senators who won by less than a few percentage points be targeted by voters for their immigration position, especially for anti-amnesty Democratic voters; plus have a system that lends moral and financial support to any politician that won't support amnesty.
I remember how organized the Republicans were back in the 94 election where they ousted the Democrats from Congress.
The fact is that Congressmen care more about saving their seats more than anything else.
I think if the Democrats, especially in the House, know that there will be a bloodbath for them and their party if they pass an amnesty bill between now and 2010, I think they might change their tune.
The only way we can win this fight is if enough anti-amnesty Democrats get their Congressman not to vote for amnesty or if there is a threat to their power or there is a change in power.
Amnesty will be passed or not passed within the next year, probably before the Summer recess. Even worse, if the Democrats get slaughtered next November, a lame duck Congress will pass amnesty in preparation for 2012, which will give Democrats 4 years to enfranchise the illegals for the next election.

Do what I do - write to all of those elected officials and remind them that you DO vote and that the people they are trying to make legal CAN'T.
I keep reminding them I am an American citizen - I can vote, I do vote, I am vocal and I am active - it's ME they represent not those who are here breaking the law.
Don't let up - get others to do the same. Show up at town halls, write letters, make phone calls - do everything you can to remind those folks you aren't going away, you're watching their voting records, and that you're ANGRY. :-)

We cannot directly work for or against the election of any candidate for public office, but you can use our immigration report cards and immigration reform candidates page (when updated for 2010), to start your own political effort. However, many of our grassroots campaigns are already targeting vulnerable candidates in an effort to convince them to support immigration reduction.

I agree we should use our vote to get more people into office with enough backbone to eliminate illegal and drastically reduce legal immigration. Kicking all the politicians out of office is a bad idea since we do have many who feel as we do about immigration. The worst thing about our government is campaign contributions which is a code word for bribes. This corrupt practice should never be tolerated in government. All campaigns should be government financed. This sounds like alot of money but with a government that deals with billions, it isn't. If you gave each candidate for congress or president $1,000,000 dollars the cost would fall far short of one billion dollars. The end result would be government doing what is right instead of what special interests want. Of course, each candidate must document how every dollar is used.

I must disagree. The candidates all carefully talked about a "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bill. The centerpiece of any bill like this is AMNESTY.
Mr. Obama has clearly said he wants the illegals to be legal (bring them out of the shadows).
We have legislators like Schumer and Gutierrez who are openly talking about their AMNESTY bills.
Gutierrez has stated that he wants all of the family members of the 15 million illegals encouraged to come here, in his version of a house bill.
No politician is willing to upset LaRaza or Hispanic voters. Even though I am sure many would like to protect their jobs and neighborhoods and do not want AMNESTY, but they are afraid to speak out.
We will have to watch very closely for politicians running for office who clearly state NO AMNESTY AND INCREASED ENFORCEMENT.
By the way, since we have been labeled a hate group by the southern poverty law center, I am starting to be a bit fearful about what I post. Just a matter of time until someone rings the doorbell with an arrest warrant for upsetting the illegal population with hate speak.

Very encouraging to read the eloquent and passionate comments here from Americans all over the country. It is an oasis in the middle of the vast silence in the "media" where the will of the American people is never expressed. Can you imagine a show on CNN "Americans in America" expressing the viewpoint here in the words of ordinary people?
One thing to keep in mind is that Mexico is the tip of the iceberg. Standing behind Mexico are BILLIONS of much more impoverished people just waiting for the wall to drop and get here on every plane, ship, car they can. I see America today like a palace that was built with sweat and blood and masses standing outside and inside the walls waiting to loot the wealth while it lasts.

The FBI has just raided a Mexican drug cartel operating here in our country. Mexican drug dealers and drug runners are able to come and go across the border as they please. They have taken over many of our national parks and wilderness areas to grow their marijuana crops. Where is homeland security???
I live 120 miles from the Mexican border. My area has been taken over by illegals who have constructed plywood huts, no septic systems (raw sewage just runs on the ground), keep herds of goats. They have brought their lifestyles here and even though they are here illegally, they know that sooner or later, the U.S. government will reward them with citizenship.
What recourse do we have? Can the ballot box save us? YES! We must vote EVERY single incumbent out of office. As another poster said, our first question to any candidate should be "What is your position on illegal immigration and providing amnesty to illegal aliens?" Politicians are so busy pandering for the "Hispanic vote" that they have forgotten that WE vote too. It's time to remind them.

Retired Border Patrolman Writes Open Letter to Sen. Bill Frist
Posted by PHX - David J. Stoddard on Friday April 7, 2006 at 8:09 pm MST [
Dear Senator Frist:
There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.
1. Illegal aliens generally do NOT want U.S. citizenship. Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a U.S. citizen. Mexicans, and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care, in-state tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans. What illegal aliens want are benefits of American residence without paying the price.
2. There are no jobs that Americans won't do. Illegal aliens are doing jobs that Americans can't take and still support their families. Illegal aliens take low wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses and send money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans won't do for a decent wage.
3. Every person who illegally entered this nation left a home. They are NOT homeless and they are NOT Americans. Some left jobs in their home countries. They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20 billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the law and therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who brought their alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on
behalf of their children.
4. Illegal aliens are NOT critical to the economy. Illegal aliens constitute less than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful U.S. residents.
5. This is NOT an immigrant nation. There are 280 million native born Americans. While it is true that this nation was settled and founded by immigrants (legal immigrants), it is also true that there is not a nation on this planet that was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.
6. The United States is welcoming to legal immigrants. Illegal aliens are not immigrants by definition. The U.S. accepts more lawful immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined.
7. There is no such thing as the 'Hispanic vote'. Hispanics are white, brown, black and every shade in between. Hispanics are Republicans, Democrats, Anarchists, Communists, Marxists and Independents. The so-called 'Hispanic vote' is a myth. Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Hispanic vote is a dead end.
8. Mexico is NOT a friend of the United States. Since 1848 Mexicans have resented the United States. During World War I Mexico allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the U.S. During World War II Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the U.S. from Mexico. During the Cold War Mexico allowed spies hostile to the U.S. to operate freely. The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico. Today
Mexican school children are taught that the U.S. stole California, Arizona, new Mexico and Texas. If you don't believe it, check out some Mexican textbooks written for their schoolchildren.
9. Although some illegal aliens enter this country for a better life, there are 6 billion people on this planet. At least 1 billion of those live on less than one dollar a day. If wanting a better life is a valid excuse to break the law and sneak into America, then let's allow those one billion to come to America and we'll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight. Besides, there are 280 million native born Americans who want a better life. I'll bet Bill Gates and Donald Trump want a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full? Since when is wanting a better life a good reason to trash another nation?
10. There is a labor shortage in this country. This is a lie. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American housewives, senior citizens, students, unemployed and underemployed who would gladly take jobs at a decent wage.
11. It is racist to want secure borders. What is racist about wanting secure borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak into America and steal benefits we have set aside for legal aliens, senior citizens, children and other legal residents? What is it about race that entitles people to violate our laws, steal identities, and take the American Dream without paying the price?
For about four decades American politicians have refused to secure our borders and look after the welfare of middle class Americans. These politicians have been of both parties. A huge debt to American society has resulted. This debt will be satisfied and the interest will be high. There has already been riots in the streets by illegal aliens and their supporters. There will be more. You, as a politician, have a choice to offend the illegal aliens who have stolen into this country and demanded the rights afforded to U.S. citizens or to offend those of us who are stakeholders in this country. The interest will be steep either way. There will be civil unrest. There will be a reckoning. Do you have the courage to do what is right for America? Or, will you bow to the wants and needs of those who don't even have the right to remain here?
There will be a reckoning. It will come in November of this year, again in 2008 and yet again in 2010.
We will not allow America to be stolen by third world agitators and thieves.

In the coming elections everyone's first question to ALL candidates should be "What is your stance on illegal immigration?" It certainly is my family's first question because illegal immigration has a negative impact on education, healthcare, employment, housing, crime, and many other aspects of our country. I don't care if a candidate is Democrat or Republican or any other party or an independent. It really bothers me that La Raza and other open border groups receive federal funds to work against our country. They aid and abet illegal aliens and do it with my tax dollars. If this government had the guts to enforce immigration laws a lot of our other problems would be solved. I'm sick and tired of the rhetoric seeking sympathy for these people. They created their own problems by coming here illegally. And to send them back doesn't mean breaking up families. They are free to take their anchor babies back with them.

I do not understand "Americans Moving Our Way" by Chris Chmielenski. It was obvious during the Republican debates in 2008 that illegal immigration was a top issue and every candidate was trying to outdo the others by what he thought should be done about illegals. I had been very active in immigration reform since the 80s and was happy to see the
issue being discussed in the debates. In the 80s and 90s you felt like a social outcast if you ever voiced your opposition to the out of control immigration situation. So, am I to believe that Americans have such a short memory since last year that they forgot how important it is to stop illegal immigration and now are starting to "move Our Way" according to the polls? Those candidates were debating the immigration issue because of pressure from the American people.

CNN's Soledad O'Brien's documentary "Latino in America" unintentionally did more to highlight the reasons that illegals should not be given automatic citizenship. Most of her subjects were dropping out of school "to work and help their families" or "to work to help support the family".
All of the females she interviewed were high school drop-outs, pregnant teens, unwed mothers. One subject (unwed with a child) was working using a phony or stolen social security card. Her response when questioned was "Is it illegal to work?" Had I been able, I would have told her "Yeah, it is illegal to work using a phony social security card, it is illegal to sneak into this country."
If O'Brien's goal was to elicit sympathy for illegals, she missed the mark entirely. She highlighted the fact that many illegals are uneducated, poverty stricken and will forever depend on public assistance to survive.

Thank you for this interesting article. The statistics you cited strongly suggest that momentum (at least amongst voters) is definitely moving away from amnesty and towards more rigorous immigration law enforcement.
In that connection, the nonpartisan bill entitled S. 1688 "Fairness in Representation Act" (which should in my opinion obtain support from every single member of the United States Senate because it seeks to require a citizenship or lawful presence in the United States inquiry on future federal ten year censuses) has of a few day ago only achieved six cosigners. I hope that many more Senators from every political party will become cosigners of this important legislation.

NumbersUSA Moderator: The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. declined by 1.3 million between 2007 and 2008, bringing the total number down to approximately 11.2 million.
What many people fail to take into account is that many illegal aliens cross the border multiple times (but they only count as one person); many others get their status changed (amnesty); and an average of 200,000 illegal aliens self-deport every year after finding it just too difficult to live illegally in the U.S.

Joan, I like the way you summed up the problem: "illegal aliens aren't going anywhere without a fight. They know they have critical mass now, and they're staying." Doesn't matter where they come from, they are breaking the law, taking American jobs, and contributing to overpopulation.
Looks like our first step will be fighting Senator Schumer's amnesty proposal. I don't know how many ia's will self-deport after amnesty is defeated. After all, they continued coming even after the last amnesty was defeated.
The second step will be putting courageous senators and representatives into office who aren't afraid to say, "We're sorry. You have to go home. We can't afford to have you here."

Joel, everything you wrote is so true, especially illegal aliens and the large number of legal immigrants being "the single most important situation we currently have as a country."
The future of our country doesn't depend on what kind of health care insurance we have or how many troops we have in Afghanistan. It depends on what we do with immigration. Amnesty for illegal aliens would be immediate and irreversible. It would be a disaster for our economy and environment.

We need to get busy right now and find neighbors and friends who see what's happening and join larger groups who are willing to do the hard work it will take to throw the bums out. All of them. It won't be easy, but if the American spirit can rise again we can overcome the community organizers, cheaters, and unions. We've been asleep too long and the cheaters have been working hard for decades. That's why they win election after election. In Texas alone it cost taxpayers $4.7 billion dollars per year for illegal aliens. They are holding jobs that citizens desperatly need. Houston is a sanctuary city, I hope this changes soon. Schumer is prepping a bill now to legalize 12 to 20 million illegal aliens, The Democrats and Republicans cater to the Hispanic vote. The first amnesty was in 1986 under President Reagan, it legalized 2.8 million illegal aliens now 23 years later we have a socialist President who wants to legalize them again. We need to get rid of Janet Napolitano and appoint people like Joe Arpaio who truly believes in the Constitution of the U.S. and enforcing its laws. The majority of Americans should tell the ACLU and La Raza to take a hike, these people are here illegally and should be deported. The governments primary job is to protect the U.S. for forign invasion, its already failed. They punish border guards for doing their jobs and let illegals go. It is all law enforcements job to stop law breakers, and illegal aliens are breaking the law by just being here, why won't law enforcement do their job? Government politicians won't let them thats why. Remember this in 2010 and 2012 when you vote. Get rid of these socialist like Pelosi, Reid and Gene Green and others.

Mary, I'm ashamed to admit I live in my home state of Illinois. Our state senator "Dick" Durbin actually has a worse voting record on immigration than the former state senator B.Obama. Our other state senator Roland Burris just votes along with the Democratic party line on most issues including immigration. Mr. Burris was appointed to his seat by the most corrupt govenor to ever to hold that office. This is saying something due to the fact that Illinois has a sad history of corrupt govenors and politicians. Durbin and Burris should be on the same "vote them out" list as Reid and Pelosi. I have voted against Durbin in every election he is in, but the sanctuary city of Chicago has the money, the corruption, and the politically organized illegals to keep pro-amnesty people like him in office.

I'm originally from Chicago, Patrick. I was just up there this August and so ashamed to see what has happened to my native city. That city has more illegals than all of Georgia since it is truly a sanctuary city that also makes it a magnet for illegals. Here in Georgia, they are NOT nearly as welcomed. Also Georgia did pass several immigration laws that has made thousands of illegals leave the state to either adjacent states or back to Mexico or other countries.

right you are, Bush's did not help: 1) Sr. Bush paved the way for NAFTA and Clinton signed it..im not familiar with sr bush on illegals. 2) Bush Jr., shortly before leaving office, stated Obama can accomplish the "Pathway to Citizenship for illegals" Glad I heard that, Now the current republicans are working hard to undo George Bush's lapses and the "regime" has worsened, attacking on all fronts. I am an independent voter and will vote out dems or republicans not helping enforce and stop illegals from taking up residence here in US.
Lots of work to do on this issue and glad to say "I am with the band at Numbersusa!! It ROCKS!!

I'm an Old Fashion Democrat For the Environment
And against amnesty. I've been called by some of the New Democrats a "NEOCON" and a "Hater". This is clear defamation of character.
To tell you the truth; the definition of liberal and conservative is down the drain.
You're either for "We the People" or your against us.
Its that simple.

Exactly Martin, I'm for the ones that look out for country FIRST, congress thinks we won't vote them out! I have news for them, my forefathers didn't fight in previous wars so that they can hand MY country to any person that can get here! "We the People" have to let them know, I told my congressmen if you think the "astroturf" teabaggers (their opinion, not mine) marched on Washington, we have 10 to 15 MILLION with no job and we are angry!

Sheriff Joe's - Maricopa County Sheriff website is MCSO.org
Sheriff Joe's Newsbriefs offer his point of view on latest struggle with enforcing laws to fight illegals.
I quit purchasing AZ Republic newspaper, it was biased to politicians and illegals.
Many disenchanted folks write AZ Rep voicing their disgust with the bi partisan and biased views. I joined in too!!

Sheriff Arpaio is the best reason I've ever seen in favor of human cloning!! If, and when the illegals and those who harbor them recognize what America has in store for all of us, IAs and citizens alike, they will be looking to go home. I know most of you will probably not understand what I am referring to, but my guess is when we finally do get around to building a border wall, it won't be to keep anyone OUT. Our New World is going to need many, many worker bees to serve the New World Government elites. Along with all else we do on behalf of immigration reform, we need to pray unceasingly to be delivered from evil.

Joan- It sure sounds as if a lot of our elected representatives are selling us down the river. The perfect example is my two senators, Sentaors Udall and Bennet. NumbersUSA has given Bennet an F- and Udall a D+ on illegal immigration issues.
Unbelievable that they can vote so consistantly in favor of pro-illegal immigration issues and against enforcement of our immigration laws. Of course over the last 9 month our enforcement laws and policies have been drastically weakened and watered down.
The big question is why! Why would a loyal American and an elected representative of the American people with no apparent connections to a foreign country or government, do this? Very puzzling!

What we the voters need to do is read NumbersUSA's report cards on all Senators and Congressmen/women. All those who are up for reelection and who have C- or worst on illegal immigration need to be voted out. We all know about Pelosi and Reid. The two senators of Colorado, Illinois, California, New York, New Jersey and Senator McCain of Arizona have 'D's and 'F's on illegal immigration issues.
I live in Georgia and both Senators have A- and A+ on illegal immigration issues. My Congressmen Linder also has an 'A'. Though I know they'll vote no, I still fax them to continue blasting those who support it in the Senate and Congress. We need to continue to do and do more is the put the pressure on those who have 'D's and 'F's on illegal immigration and amnesty. Also the true key is those who are up for reelection and ones who ARE running against them. It will NOT do us any good if those running against them have bad records on illegal immigration and amnesty.

I'll tell you why----The politicians are buying votes with your freedom and our sovereignty. This has been happening for almost 60 years. Look at the "semi-illegal" experiences in New York City. It appears that when politicians championing specific questionable groups they have a price. The payback is votes to keep and elect these same politicos. " Remember who made it possible for you to come to the U.S. Therefore elect (or re-elect) me. The cycle keeps going on and the 'beat goes on'. Immigration is fine! It has built our country, but even though "a little sugar is good --- but too much makes the coffee undrinkable"
Controlled immigration is what is needed --- not illegal!

Why? Because they have been bought by lobbysts representing corporations who profit greatly by hiring lots of illegal immigrants to work for them cheaply. They're selling us down the river, all right!

This is my latest commentary published in the majority of blogs, the national press and other media. I try to get at least two of my commentaries or even blogs--sometimes articles in every state.
***************************************
Our government needs to prove to the American workers that they mean what they say. That means secure borders and interior immigration enforcement. E-Verify is part of nationwide enforcement, a tool that has caused hysteria amongst the open border demagogues. E-verify was nearly sold out by Sen. Harry Reid , Nancy Pelosi , Rep. Joe Baca (D-Calif.) and even Janet Napolitano. But this time they failed to arrest it's capability to remove E-Verify from the Parthenon of tools, that addresses the illegal immigration invasion. Brought into the spotlight by Senator Sessions, they Democratic leadership were unable to sink it beyond the enlightened eyes of the attentive public. As with the 1986 Immigration control and reform bill, those anti-sovereignty organizations have--NEVER--tried to--ENFORCE--the law. THROW ALL THESE ANTI-SOVEREIGNTY LAWMAKERS OUT WHEN RUNNING FOR OFFICE AGAIN.
So now those catering to big business are repeatedly saying its broken. like any immigration enforcement laws, Democrats and Republicans alike over decades have refused to enforce the border. A new survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports reveals that 56% of Americans say that federal immigration policies encourage illegal immigration, and 64% believe that local law enforcement should conduct raids in places where illegal aliens gather to find work. Only 19% opposed the raids compared to 24% who opposed such raids back in April. Another condemnation by faith groups is Sen. Chuck Schumer's attempt to claim overwhelming evangelical Christian support for his pending amnesty legislation has crumbled. His master plan was to use the staff and leadership of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) to give the impression of near unanimity.
The NAE tried. But after the members in the pew erupted, only 11 of the 40 NAE member denominations have been willing to sign on to endorse amnesty and Schumer's "comprehensive immigration reform" agenda. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) offered an amendment to the Commerce, Justice and Science (CSJ) appropriations bill that would have prevented CSJ funds from going to cities or localities with "sanctuary" policies (i.e., those cities that prohibit their police officers from assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement, refuse to report criminal illegal aliens, and act as safe havens for illegal aliens). The paranoid Senators voted 61-38 to table the amendment (effectively killing it), with at least one of your Senators voting against the amendment. Unfortunately these are SANCTUARY STATES such as California that is now submerged under massive financial debt, a large portion caused by the millions of illegal families living of state welfare. Rep. Joe Baca (D-CA) yesterday introduced a bill that would ensure all citizens and U.S. residents--INCLUDING--illegals immigrants -- are counted in the US Census.
This included Sen. DeMint amendment to construct the original--DOUBLE LAYER--fence, authored originally by Rep.Duncan Hunter, which like most approved laws are hastily thrashed in cloaked conferences pandering to corporate cartels and pro-illegal immigrant lobbyists. Thanks to the open border groups our border defenses comprises of a single layer barrier, with large areas of nothing to halt illegal criminals, drug peddlers, uninhibited terrorists and scores of illegal aliens with families from entering America. Sanctuary policies encourage illegal immigration by sending a signal across the world that anyone who manages to enter the United States will be able to stay here as long as they wish - regardless of their status - because our government lacks the will to enforce its own laws. These illegal policies have contributed to our current illegal immigration debacle and are an embarrassment to the country.
Call and blast your Senators and Representative at 202-224-3121 in Washington. Overwhelming the switchboard with your calls, as it is having an outstanding effect of--MILLIONS of angry voters. INFORM THEM DO YOUR DUTY OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES ON RE-ELECTION DAY? Tell them you want a PERMANENT E-Verify for--EVERY WORKER, a secure double layer fence and--REAL--enforcement against sanctuary state policies. Read undisclosed facts at NUMBERSUSA. UNEARTH the corruption at JUDICIAL WATCH. Your voice is needed to halt OVERPOPULATION and American Worker survival. Demand NO-MORE-AMNESTIES. Go home and come through the front door, like millions of legal immigrants?

David, not ONLY do I want a Permanent E-Verify bill, I want ALL people employed NOW to be ran through it, because many Illegals have been in the same job for generations!
I'm NOT listening to their sob stories about breaking up their families either, IF they had an anchor baby here and both parents are illegal, NEITHER PARENT SHOULD get to come here when their child turns 21 and can lobby for them! NEVER get to come here!
Good points David, you go!!!

Let's Try a Fresh Zogby Poll
Ask Americans if they want more overpopulation in their neighborhoods.
I'd bet a million dollars that 80-90% of Americans would say "No Way".
That's the trouble with most immigration type polls, they use weasle wording like "reform", "guest", "labor shortage" to twist the results, IMO. They do it by implying blatant lies in their questions are actual facts too.

The media has huge influence on what issues are pushed and what issues are shelved. In the end they control much of the agenda. In the good old days the media was made up of many individual opinions and perspectives and owners. The consolidation of the media that began under Reagan was probably the worst thing that ever happened to the USA and independent opinion because it allowed the media agenda to be controlled by a corporate overriding viewpoint. If the big money interests see immigration and illegal labor as being good for them, it will be pushed by corporate America which includes the media.

I agree Margaret- I think we need to re-establish our policy of arresting IAs at companies where they are working illegally. I believe a lot of IAs self deported as a result of those raids.
Also the policy declared by Janet Napolitano back in March, was to do away with these raids BUT they were going to agressivly go after the employers of IAs. Ah yes; the old slight of hand trick. So far, there have been few, IF ANY, arrests of employers since that announcement. Maybe some procecutations, but no new arrests. I really think this is a point that we need to hold DHS accountable for.
I would hope that American people are for elimination of IAs entering our country, not just for fewer people entering ilegally. If not, we are really in trouble. Of course, political aysulum is another matter.

Re: Americans Moving in Our Direction
Until Americans understand that neither the Republican nor the Democratic Party put the interests of the USA first, they are just cows being herded. Vote candidates that put the people of USA first and if you can't find such a candidate vote the independent candidate. Don't ever believe the media hype that such independents are outside of the box.
Bush and the Republicans had full opportunity to end illegal immigration by enforcement and border control and a very valid reason after 9-11. Instead the business interests made sure it didn't happen. But it was the people who actually blocked Bush's attempt at amnesty. Reagan succeeded with amnesty only because it was the first time and Americans bought into the lying hype that they would actually enforce law.
The Republicans and Mr. Reagan fooled us once and it should be shame on them. If the Democrats try and fool us twice it should be shame on us. The Democrats will lose any remaining credibility if they try and push it through. What we need is an America First Party.
