Will the poor economy
Will the poor economy encourage illegals to self-deport?
I have another question, though. In some ways, wouldn't granting these folks citizenship force them to obey the same laws as the rest of us? It seems that they escape retribution because they are illegal, and therefore exempt.
For example, one of my co-workers was recently involved in a car accident with an illegal having no insurance, and the police said there was nothing they could do. They wouldn't even ticket the individual because he didn't have a license, let alone expect him to pay for damages. It seems unfair that a huge group of people can do whatever they want without fear of prosecution.
NumbersUSA Moderator: The slight increase in enforcement measures (more businesses using E-Verify, workplace raids, state and local police entering into agreements with ICE) has resulted in a significant drop in illegal immigration. The worsening economy has provided additional incentives for illegal aliens to self-deport.
Amnesty is a bad idea.
The example you provide above of the person getting off scott-free after the traffic accident is no longer possible in states and cities that have entered 287(g) agreements with ICE. You should lobby your local government to embrace interior enforcement measures.
